I don't care what the weather's like-- I love it out there! (been organizing my pics and thought I'd share a few)

Beautiful!

I've never been surfing, but I do love skimboarding-- that way you don't have to get out with the sharks!

Notice that I have a trustworthy skimboarding assistant. The only problem is when she decides to run in front of me and she and I go tumbling down the beach.

Here's my sister-- she's not quite as eager to get soaked and sandy as I am.

And here's the two of us being goofballs on a giant piece of driftwood.

It's about three hours to the coast (Fort Bragg) from where I live. I try to get out there as often as possible!

Strangely enough,Ft. Bragg,N.C. is about 3 hours from the East coast but there are no rocks & caves there, just much larger surf.

Eerie [?] No,that's in Pennsylvania .

Great Photos! Looks like you were having fun!

I was camping near this beach, Caerfai near St David's in Pembrokeshire a couple of weeks ago. There were quite a few people surfing, while I was building dams on the beach with my sons.

Not my photo!

Coast facts:
1) Great Britain has 11,072 miles of coastline (not including NI, Isle of Man or Channel Islands), as opposed to the 6,053 miles belonging to the contiguous 48 States (add Alaska and it just tops Britain).

2) Nowhere in Britain is 3 hours from the coast - except possibly the West End of London on a Friday afternoon.

Not my photo!

Fort Bragg Cali is a wonderful place to visit and an even better place to grow up. Noyo, Harecreek, Pudding creek, Virgin creek, and Mackerricher state park are great spots to watch some waves, although one of my favs is Glass beach. It used to be a dump site back in the day and over time the waves have softened the edges of broken pieces of glass and metal that are covering a particular spot on the beach and you can spend hours walking through it finding little treasures. :) In "town" it gets pretty over cast but the temp stays at a nice 'not too hot, not too cold' spot. I miss the redwoods! A hint to any future tourist...Pack more than a flowered shirt and shorts....my sibs and friends and I had many laughs over watching the tourists who came to town and expected a sunny california beach resort. Bragg is somethin special. A few movies you can watch about our town, Overboard-with goldie hawn ( I can tell you where every single shot was made in that movie) and The Majestic-with Jim Carrey. Dozens of 'murder she wrote' shows were filmed just south of fort bragg in a town called mendocino.
You wont find any military other than the local Coast Gaurd. The little bit of "base" that's left is a small square building on Franklin St. that talks about how Fort bragg was a look out point for german subs way back when. That pretty much sums up the "fort" part of town.
Awesome pics.
