I've had it for about 2 and a half months now, I don't leave home with it and also take it to work every day. What a great knife! The action is smooth and tight, lock up was 100% when I got it and it seems to be improving. No wear is visible.
It also has the beginning of a very nice patina and by the way, rust is not an issue at all, I have only oiled once since getting it, aside from that I just wipe it dry every time I cut something wet and thats it - no rust what so ever.
It cuts wonderfully, takes one of the best edges I've ever seen and holds it for a good long time, only been sharpened once so far although I do touch ups on the white 204 rods every now and then.

I am never taking this knife out of my pocket (well, except for cutting stuff :D ), Thank you Steve!

Thanks. I assume you meant you don't leave home 'without' it? :D I'm kidding I knew what you meant. You walked into that one though.

I appreciate the feedback. I often hear of the patina but none of my own have pitted on me.They can if you don't catch it early enough but most of em just get some character kind of like the old Case CV pocket knives of my youth which was what I was trying to reproduce only in a more modern one hand opening and closing version that locks open.

Y'all need to give Steve's Ouperator a try. They are great knives at a most reasonable price. Love the carbon wharncliffe blade. And don't forget about his low rider clip. I think it is the best clip I have ever used on a folder.

They are scattered all over the place in my forum here just do a search for Ouparator. You can see them in my link to my homepage also in one of two albums there. The one that pulls up is lgtfut and the next link above it STRprojects I think I called it is also pretty full.

Thanks

Did you, by chance, give the blade a bit of upsweep ? Looks like the later ones are not too wharny. I really like the damascus you did on the last one!! I have an older damascus blade by Eggerling(mosaic, I think) and I cut a piece of meat with some vinegar on it and the whole finish went bland, as in blah, no more coloring !! Anything I can do to it, STR?

Well you could re-etch it but my Leek Damascus did that also first time I cut open an orange with it. Its the nature of the carbon steel really. Some of the acid sold at Radio Shack for cleaning computer boards and half white vinegar will re etch it out again but you may have to do it a couple times depending on how dark you want it.

No two of my knives are ever the same. I call them the same model but each one is totally unto itself and unique. I kind of let the knife give me a feel as I'm working it and just shape each one individually. Some do have an upsweep some don't. I prefer the ones that don't personally but these work too. Its all fun and I reserve the right to my artistic license is what I started to say but it sounded kind of like a smart arse so I'll just say thats not my tone at all. Its just that I never know how it will go. They sort of take on a life of their own after a while with me the way I work. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, for me it makes a lot of sense and also that is great as each knife is an individual and no two are really the same. Each owner has a more or less one of a kind, really great!! Can't be more custom made than that ! That sounds good! I hope to own one in damascus soon ! Thanks for the tip also!

Let me rephrase that. A 50/50 mix of white vinegar and the Radio shack etchant. But seriously there are various recipes for this that some prefer too so do some searching and you can find one another maker likes.
