Decided my RP knife needed sharpening and needed some coarse sandpaper for some wood, picked up some 500 and 800 grit wet and dry when i was there :D

so i convexed it with 500, 800 and it was shaving and continued with micro mesh untill grade 12000 (p11000) and went back for grade 3200 (p2500) for a toothier edge and stropped on a leather belt, need some metal polish for finishing but this is perfectly sharp :D

The results are that it's now my sharpest knife

good job convexing the rc3. i seen a post around the end of april where someone said they were too thin to convex . i have convexed several and yours looks like its working out fine .

WOW. I do have to say that is impressive. I've tried but never gotten mine looking that nice and that sharp. I guess I'm either not as skilled or as patient as you are. Nice job!

Great job on convexing your blade. You have the exact same system as I use on mine and it works great.

if you want to get the knife even sharper, see if you can find a set of paper wheels and buff the edge with the slotted wheel. you can go from a burr to shaving sharp in minutes compared to ? time on a strop.

NICE JOB!

A sharp knife is a beautiful thing!

Sandpaper is my go to sharpening method.

What is the technique with sandpaper?

maybe a bit late but i don't really have technique, i use a kinda hardish mouspad just enough give to it, lay the paper on it make it wet,
and than i just use it as a stone,
with this i mean that i do edge trailing AND edge first on the sandpaper.

and then i sharpen it by eye, look at the lower grind spots and lower my angle on that spot and sharpen that area seperate untill it looks good, than went to the higher grits and just use an old leather belt. I could use some stropping compound

or the slotted paper wheels but i don't have a grinder, or the room to put one so compound would be my best choice :D

complete sharpening (including reprofiling) took about 50 minutes, i know that with the paper wheels it would be a lot faster :D

sweetness! i like the one with the newspaper the best. my ultra-fine rods for my sharpmaker will be here by friday so i'll try my hand at getting my knives this sharp.

What happens to the laser, if you go outside and pound it
through a 3" log?

Haven't got a clue :D
It is the RP model so i'm not going to thrash on it,
i have been using it as my edc right after i sharpened it and already took down a ton of cardboard, it doesn't shave anymore but can still slices through newspaper ;)

This is about the hardest usage it gets from me ;)

That's 30 pieces of paper, pretty heavy cardboard and a bit of foam :D
