Just got my first GEC in the mail today - a 33 Conductor Whittler in faded denim. Beautiful and pocket friendly. I made a mistake because there is no going back now. Already looking for the second - will it be a #15 Boys knife with a spear point blade or a white owl? I fear there is no end to this madness and honestly, I am glad...my wallet isn't, but I am.

An excellent choice.

Have fun. :)

The 33 Whittler is great, and GEC has some nice acrylics. The Whittler is the only GEC I own with acrylic.

Cracking choice, I love that acrylic, I like it in the maverick from its side aspect too.

Now you're just showin' off. (Blue Tuna, yes? So very fine.)

I had my Faded Denim Whittler for a good two weeks before I remembered I wasn't going to get another acrylic-covered knife.

No regrets, but I still laugh at myself.

Despite the immediate appeal of Blue, the intrigue of a pattern (whittler) and frame (#33) I hadn't yet tried, and the attractiveness of others' pictures and reports, I was able to hold out until I saw this:

Why?

... The sparkly depth of the blue (who knew?!) immediately prompted a wave of nostalgia (complete with memories of utmost fondness) for my first bicycle. The colors are almost exact.

Boom, baby.

(My post goes on from there, with many more images.)

Jone, I'm sitting here smiling, happy that out of all the possibilities, you chose this knife as your first GEC.

Again: very nicely done.

Not a fan of acrylics (unless MOP is underneath), but the solid coloured acrylics like this blue, with what appears to be chatoyance have me curious! The variability in them looks great depending on light/camera angle, and can only think of how they look in person. Good score!!

I made a similar mistake when I ordered this GEC:eek:
When I handled it to inspect it I was simply bowled over and new I was sunk!

This is one of those mistake that seems pretty easy to live with:p :D
Welcome to the club:thumbup:

Pertinux - It was those exact pictures from a previous post showing off some GEC knives that pushed me over the edge. I was having difficulty deciding between a few different patterns, saw your pics and it was over. I certainly have you to thank.

Well, you're certainly welcome. I have received so much through others' pictures and insights (and patience!) here, and continue to do so.

If something I've posted has helped you find a knife you're pleased with, I'm really glad. :)

I'm loving the looks of this knife would you mind PMing me where you got it?

I really love this pattern and that particular acrylic! I don't normally care for the acrylics but this one really appeals to me. I've been saying I'm going to try out a 33 pattern for quite a while now just haven't got around to picking one up yet. I'm more drawn to the Conductor version but would be happy with either one I think. :) Congrats and good luck with the GEC sickness! I was infected a year ago or so and I've spent more hours than I could even begin to count searching for the next one I just can't live without. lol

It will be both, take it from someone with multiples of each. :) Then stay very wide of the #42's and #72's and pretty much anything else GEC has on the production schedule now. Some SERIOUSLY nice knives coming down the pike as of late.

Congrats on your #33 and glad to hear you're happy with it. I got my son the same knife about a momth ago - his first traditional.

That is a very beautiful mistake.

The 33 whittler is a very nice patter. I especially like the faded blue denim acrylic.
