Hello everyone!

I am a long time lurker on this site however I decided to finally make an account and post something up that you guys may find interesting. I should preface this by saying I am by no means a professional knife maker or even an intermediate knife maker. I am about as noob as they come, but I do enjoy it. I lean towards the utility genre of knives and consequently those are the type of knives I enjoy making the most. I like them simple. However being a complete noob on a forum packed with professionals gives me a distinct advantage to take your criticisms and advice to help me become better!

I started a youtube channel where I am basically recording the things I usually like to do anyway (tool and axe restoration, knife making, tool and knife alteration, etc). Some of you may find it interesting, others may find it painfully amateur, either way I'd love to hear your thoughts! I should also note that I am not trying to build a company or get rich, I've never sold any of the knives or tools I've made or restored, I do it because I enjoy it. Its relaxing and fun to me to make something out of nothing or bring an old tool back to life, so I guess the point of the channel is to hopefully get others to do the same! Anyway, here is the video:

I have better pictures of the final knife used in the video if anyone is interested. Either way, please let me know your thoughts!

That's a damn-good looking knife!
Nice stain, smooth edges, and I like how you kept most if the file-teeth.
Gets a  from me!

I do like knives made from files, they look awesome. Michael Morris, Anza, and other folks make good ones too. What better source of high carbon steel, it's already in bar stock format, nice job!

Nice looking knife there. I bet if you were wanting to you wouldn't find it hard to unload knives like that one for a decent price.

Here are some better photos of the knife itself:

Looks great! Really, I see smaller knife makers that are not making knives better than that. Looks like it would make a great utility knife. Could see tossing something like that in a leather sheath and using it for a hunting or have one the boat for a general purpose knife.

What length is the blade?

What length is the blade?

Blade Length: 4.25"
Handle Length: 4.75"
Overall Length: 9"
Blade Thickness: 1/4
Handle Material: Bocote

Edit: I really appreciate everyones kind words! It makes me feel amazing to know that knife lovers enjoy my knives!

That is a great video! No talking just let the steps speak for themselves. Very nicely done!

Excellent video and knife!
That was a pleasure to watch and looks like a great knife.

Sweet little knife and a great video - thanks for sharing.

The only thing I would have done differently was sand the handle to 2000 grit and then hit it with a buffing wheel. (I have a thing for shiny wood handles on a knife :D )

Safety suggestion - do not wear gloves when grinding. Your grinder is small and weak but maybe one day you will work with a big one.

Well done video, well done knife.:thumbup: Thank you for sharing this.

I usually dont however for some reason with this knife I was getting an unusually high amount of static discharge from the grinder. I am also ashamed to say I dont know how to remedy that aside from wearing gloves. Is wearing gloves while grinding with a small grinder a bad idea?

Thanks!
