I dropped by a surplus shop today to pick up some Tuff Cloth and I saw a sign on the front counter by the register. It was a notice from the police that they were looking for clues to a murder.

Don was just a decent guy who owned a Mailboxes Etc. here in town. We weren't really friends, but we were on friendly terms - enough so that whenever I came in to mail a package he would ask me about how school was going. And every now and then I ran into him in the grocery store and we would exchange pleasantries.
Supposedly someone snuck in the back door of his shop around closing time and shot him when he came back to get something. He lay there all weekend. I don't know all the particulars.
I hadn't been by there in about two months and had no idea that this had happened. I thought that maybe he had just moved to another location. What a shame. What a waste.
I never thought of someone doing anything like that in a Mailboxes Etc.! It just serves to make one value life more and reminds us all that we need to be careful out there. Ah well... sh!t.
