Pretty big deal for me to carry the same knife for a week, but the new Knafs Lander 2 i got stayed in pocket for an entire whole week! I do miss the aluminum heavier knives during the winter but it's been nice to have the warmth of micarta while it's been so cold lately.

Getting a whole week also gave me a variety of tasks, learned the larger tip does not pierce well, but it sliced and cut just fine for everything overall.

What is the last knife that has earned a week in your pockets?

That can be a milestone for many of us. The only times I can ever carry the same knife for a week is if I’m too busy to think about switching or I’m out of town and only brought one knife.

It’s funny to look back on the days before I became a collector. If somebody would have told me back then that they carried the same knife for a week, I wouldn’t have known how to respond. They might as well have told me they carried the same wallet for a week.

I know, right? I remember buying an Uncle Henry stockman at a truck stop in 1970. I carried that knife every single day, everywhere I went, for at least 30 years. The thought of buying another knife never occurred to me. The only time I carried anything else was when I was hunting or camping. Then, I carried a Buck 110 or a fixed blade pilots survival knife that I got when I was in the Marines, in addition to the stockman.

And here's the old Uncle Henry, with it's replacement:

More than a week with this 1

About the most I have managed this year is 3 days in a row. That is usually what I get when I get a new knife that I really like, but after about 3 days I start wanting to change it up.
I switch back and forth from practical, to tactical, expensive, cheap, modern, traditional, etc. It is really a curse because while I could honestly pick one blade and carry it every single day and it would serve me well enough, I always seem to find the shortcomings of whatever I have at the time and start thinking, "maybe this one would be better". I am kind of a knife pessimist, a knessimist if you will 😄
That is where I haven't really found one that is perfect in every way, which is the nature of it because when you gain something in one area it comes at the expense of another. (size, blade shape, grind, etc.)
So I just keep rotating. Knessimism is a sickness 🤣

I've carried a Manly Peak in S90V for almost a year straight now. It was a gift from a good friend and it just so happens to be amazing! I've since bought a few new blades but haven't felt the urge to make the swap yet. Light, slim, strong and cutting geometry that makes it a laser beam.....hard to beat!

I love that bottom Uncle Henry. It looks like it has been on a lot of journeys with you. Thanks for sharing.

My wife gifted me a big ol' Cold Steel 5 Max for Christmas which I have made the point of carrying pretty much every day, and I have really grown attached to the ridiculous thing to make sure she knows it was an appreciated spend of the money.

It's taught me that you can used to whatever you feel like saddling yourself to...it sometimes it fun to press a 5" blades nearly 14 ounce knife into doing a chore a 2.5" could do.

Pretty much every knife I buy spends a least a week of dedicated carry in my pocket so that I can identify its strong points and shortcomings. Depending on my acquisition rate and how well the knife does over the first week, it might well be a few months.

It’s been this one every day since I got it at least over a year ago.

I’ve rotated out my traditional I carry LF with my keys and lots of fixed blades I pack at 4:00 behind my hip, but that one’s stayed firmly in my right front pocket.
