I am committing to buying a 3.5, spanto, non-flipper!

I'm a poor college kid so it'll take me a few months to save up the dough, but I thought a public declaration would help keep me resolved. Previously I had been wavering as to whether or not the cost was worth it. No matter what arguments I came up with however, they could not dissuade me from the fact that I really, really, really wanted one. And I would never be satisfied until I had one in my hands. The heart wants what the heart wants.

Help keep me motivated so that I won't spend my Hinderer fund on some other knife. My goal is to have one by Christmas. I'll make sure to update with pics when I get it.

With this statement, I can do so in good conscience. If you said tuition or books or.....it would be different But, if you are definately earmarking these funds for a reward for hard work in the form of a knife .....then DO NOT waver and get a lesser "compromise" knife.

If you buy other knives you will just have to sell them later at a loss so you'll be throwing your $$$ down the drain. Just think about the pain of having to sell lesser knives anytime you feel the urge to buy one. Keep your eyes on the prize!!! Having a good pic as your screensaver could help keep you focused as well! Oh - and try to get to a knife show if you can and get in the lottery - you'll pay a LOT less if you can win! They are coming up in CA in Oct and NJ in Nov!!!!!

Maprik, I'm way ahead of you. I've already got one as the home screen on my iPhone :)

I will share the wise words of Wayne Campbell (Wayne's World)

It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.

Wise folks set reasonable and obtainable but challenging goals for themseleves. By doing this and executing the goal, you feel a great sense of accomplishment.

Saving to get a Hinderer is an example, as is successfully completing each course you encounter towards your degree.

Best of luck in both / all.
