I may be running behind again, but...

have i used one? no.. would i? yes.. i am not big on bracelets and etc but in a camping/survival atmosphere i would. alteast i would attach it to soemthing like a knife, pack or what not.. i think it would sell quite well esp the "if you use it, they replace it" deal.. i would go for that.

but in all honesty, you can make your own for a fraction of the price.

Anyone use these products: http://www.survivalstraps.com/

I like the concept if you use it they replace it.

I personally haven't used one or bought one, but I actually came across this site yesterday while reading a forum. I liked the idea as well, and was actually interested in the EMS bracelet... Then I took some paracord myself yesterday and made me and my oldest daughter bracelets. Definitely cool though.

They make more than just bracelets

yes i know. i would purchase the lanyards and maybe zipper cords. i have came across this site a while back. i have donated time and money to the WW project.. so i try to support that when i can.. i was just giving you my opinion is all :D

And that's what I like. I especially like the pins they use to clasp it together. I think the belts are pretty cool especially. I could see that coming in real handy in a survival situation, and with plenty of cord.

Yeah, if you have the paracord already, you can make them for a fraction of the cost, but then you have to take into consideration, the clasps, the various colors, etc. So, in the end, it might be a better choice to go with Survival Straps...

Scot's Knots also offers bracelets like that, but not belts.

i've seen links to youtube videos on how to braid those things.

i'm a cheap bastard, so i'm more likely to order up some 550 in various colors and make my own. hmmm... at the moment i have lots of time on my hands while recovering from eye surgery... just not sure anything i made right now would look good later.

i've made similar stuff years ago at summer camp. (long, long ago) it just takes some time, patience and the ability to follow directions.

i've also seen a video on weaving a paracord "donut" which was a lot of cord in a small package.

i've had friends who made their own belts.

"mixed martial arts and crafts" anyone? :p

That is pretty cool. Share the story if you use it and get a new one. That sounds like a good company. Hmm..

they make a lot of stuff. for the bracelets it may actually be more cost efficient to make 'em yourself, but for things like the dog collar or rifle slings (maybe used as any smaller gear slings) it seems reasonable

Thanks, I wear a paracord bracelet most of the time, I have been looking for some blue paracord to make some things for Lisa....especially considering her commute now. I may just order her one of those anklets in two tone blue, maybe something else too. As much trouble as getting the right color blue para cord is and with our schedules now it would likely just be easier all around. As soon as I find the right replacement coating I am going to bead blast an Izula and do her one in blue....and have a blue sheath made for it...for her car kit. I think the blue would be "sheeple-friendly" as well.

.

I have been thinking about making one or buying one for a while.

What are your guys thoughts on the clasps. I like the idea of a steel "indestructible" type clasp but I'm also always wary of things on my extremities that could catch on something and NOT break off.

Aesthetically I prefer the looks of the quick release clasps, but like you I don't like having things that I don't know for sure will break away, so I use a sewn on button that will break away if enough force is applied.

What I think would really be cool would be a baldric made up like the rifle sling. Although I suppose you could just use one of the rifle slings....

But I would think that would be another convenient way to carry paracord.

Here's a blue cord I got to make some stuff from. Its a bit darker colored in person, but the place I got it from, supply captain, has several different shades.

I was gifted 2 of them by the brother-in-law. I always wear one in a field situation because of the bulk of the ones he got me. The metal clevis for a clasp is smart and rugged, but takes practice to take off in a hurry.
I'm all for the pcord bracelets, but if you get Survival Straps try and think of the right size. I'm a big guy and the "wide" bracelet is very bulky.
