i was looking through mcmaster car when i found 304 stainless rods is 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and more sizes that are percision ground to -0.0005" tolerance. that means that they will fit the holes better. it costs a little more. 1/8" dia 6ft was $10.80, 3/16" dia 6ft was $12.71. 1/4" dia. 6ft was $14.37. 6ft is the only lenght show. hope this helps. Mcmaster carr's phone number is (732) 329-3200

I go down to the local welding supply and buy 300 series stainless for pins....wont rust....just mike em and buy corresponding drill bits....slightly oversized.....you can also get reamers in every size imaginable... every .001 increments....for stiff knives you just want a slip fit...
