In 2008 I saw a neat Buck 119 with leather handle, it had strips of white bone in the handle. It was a limited made model so I knew it wasn't going to last. I saw one in person at the 2008 Blade Show in Atlanta. C.J. Buck was there and he showed it to me.

I thought that would be a nice nice if I could get a good price. Well, this year at the blade show, Buck members got a card that gives us 60% off of two knives from Buck's web site. I saw the 119 with leather handle there for $210. I thought wow for $84, that is a great deal. Still, I hadn't figured out what my second knife would be and I just spent a lot of money at the show, so I figured I would wait.

Well, the 119 with stacked leather is now gone from the web site. So, I guessed I missed my chance.

I guess it is not all that bad, I still have the option to buy two great knives this year at a great price, still my plan on waiting, kind of backed fired.

Joe Houser seems to be separate from the rest of Buck...not better or worse...just different... :D

peter78 - Others here have called on "sold out" items...sometimes you get lucky...

Do you feel lucky???  :p

I'm stopping by the factory store this week before headng back to Iraq so I'll ask if they have any still around.

The factory store has some. They are factory blems and are price at $105. The store lady said there were no discounts on any of the blems or build outs.

To make the 'sour grapes' a bit less sour, weren't there some real complaints about the stacked leather used in that, and some other Buck fb, knife? I seem to remember voids, etc. Odd, since Marbles, KaBar, Queen, etc, can make perfect stacked leather handles. Maybe I'm just having a 'senior moment'...

Yep. Mine is sitting on the floor in a pile of EDC knives right next to me as I type. I thought it would be a nice blade to display. Just another user.
Roughed out leather and off-color mismatch bone.

Not bad, but not what I thought it would be. Like a mail-order bride.
