Its been forever since I've posted anything in the forum but I wanted to share my story about meeting CJ.....

Several weeks ago I went to the NRA Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh and stopped by the Buck booth. CJ was there talking with folks and signing knives. I was lucky enough to have my well-used Vantage Pro with me so I walked up and asked if he would sign it. He said "absolutely" and signed (engraved) his name and 'NRA 11' on the blade. Then we talked for a quick moment about how nice of a knife the Vantage Pro is.... and in the process reached in his back pocket and pulled out his EDC which was also a Vantage Pro! I just thought that was pretty cool :) So the guy who could carry any number of Buck customs made with exotic materials carries a regular production knife. Well maybe he had something more exotic in his other pocket?

My dad ended up buying the 'show special' knife from Buck (I'm embarrased to say I don't remember exactly what it was... I'm thinking a Gen 5 with a blade cutout?). Anyway CJ signed dads knife as well. Pic below.

CJ was just seemed like a down to earth, regular guy and it was a neat experience to meet him :)

That is really cool. I'd read before that CJ Buck EDCs a Vantage Pro. Made me feel justified in choosing the Vantage line for my EDC.

MS, very cool, I hope to meet him someday soon... You need to post some pics on the Sunday Picture Show... ITE ... ;)

Very cool to know he carries a production knife, now I may have to get an advantage of my own.

I can't wait until the dat i meet either CJ,or Chuck Buck, like to me Joe Houser too!I think these folks are all down to earth people, and to me its what makes the Buck Knife Co. exactly what it is today. There is still a lot of pride when asked by someone if i have a knife they could borrow, and i dig into my pocket and pass them a Buck.

Good deal. I had the pleasure of meeting his father back in April (Chuck signed my Paradigm Pro) and also found him to be very down to earth, friendly, just an all around nice guy and gentleman. It's nice to hear that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

Welcome back messer! ;) Great pics and story. I met CJ a few years back, and he's great to talk to. Then he was carrying a Mayo TNT. (I like the Vantage better too :D)

STDK: I highly recommend the Buck Vantage. I've not carried much else since I bought it a year ago.

My wife and I attended the 20 year anniversary celebration and had the chance to meet and talk with both CJ and Chuck. Chuck talked to me about how the 112 came about and how it got its name "Ranger." The celebration included a last day picnic at the Buck home which was very nice. This is a really nice family. Its nice to do business with people like them.

Man, I was 20 miles away from meeting him:grumpy:, also had a chance to go but was all tied up. I didnt realize he was there or I may have made more of and effort.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck and he was very much a gentleman and regular guy. I'm glad to see(and not surprised) that the family tradition moves on.

imafritz: too bad you didn't attend. The NRA Annual Meeting is really pretty cool. I never miss one when they are within a half day drive. There are more guns than knives there but that's cool too - I like both :)

I had a near miss in meeting Chucvk Buck,i just missed him in Maine a couple years back,it was either LL Bean or Cabelas,i just missed him, dang it!LOL.

I was at the show in Pittsburgh too. I saw Buck was there, but every time I walked by they were swamped with people.
The one thing I do know is that CJ had a constant smile on his face, I was with friends so I didn't want to waste their time standing there waiting for that golden chance.... I should have though.

Well congrats anyhow, looks like you had a great time too.

Yes, Mike, it was a highlight of my life. I think about it very often.

Yes, Knifeschmied, such a knife I never give away - not freely.

Best,
Haebbie

Mike and Haebbie I really enjoyed meeting both of you there. It was great just getting a chance to meet Chuck, and CJ. HL
