I have owned many Busse's over the years and the Basic 7 is actually one of my favorites as well. It is lighter than the SHII's or the BM's but still can handle any camp chore. FYI, I have purchased the very last 2 Basic 7's from Jerry. He found 2 blanks that he made up for me but that is all she wrote. They ran out of the modified INFI and because of the price differential or lack there of, Jerry decided to discontinue the line. Major bummer, but I am sure he has something else up his sleeve. Sorry for the bad luck but I believe Tall Paul has one for sale and he is good guy that will treat you right.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I had a Basic 9 that I sold, I loved that knife also, wish I'd never let it go.
The Basics are incredibly comfortable and durable knives, and of course they carry the best warranty in the business.
Do you plan on looking for another Basic 7 or do you have something else in mind to replace it with?

The handle on that thing was great. Most comforatble field/camp knife I ever used. I bought it from 1SKS, when they were running a batch with the special sheaths. You know how it is, you wait 3 or 4 months for a knife, use it, like it, lose it .. then cry yourself to sleep
Well, ok, I didn't cry. But I did say some bad words when I realized what happened.
I would buy one used if a good deal came along. But if I were to spend in the neighborhood of $200 for a field knife again (now that I'm a few years older and have a little more dough) I might be willing to go up to the $300 range. Which, of course, is more than enough reason to visit the Busse forum!
Just so you guys know, one of the deciding factors in my decision to by a Busse is that the Busse fans on this forum don't run down other manufacturers. It says alot about a product's quality when it's makers and users know that what they have is good enough that they don't try to make other people's stuff look bad. The knife was exactly what I expected it to be, based on the comments here.
