I miss REKAT...

Just thinking about some of the REKAT folders this morning. I really miss 'em. the Pocket Hobbit, and the Sifu were just awesome knives. Pioneer was a little work horse with great edge geometry, and the Carnivores had some of the most comfortable handles I've ever felt on a folding knife.

I really wish they had...AHEM...made the necessary changes to survive in the market.

At least Benchmade bought the Rolling Lock and made it something really good.

Now if someone would just re-create a few of those folders I'd be crapping in high cotton.:D

Hope I'm not the only one present with these sentiments.

Man, I would LOVE to have seen Benchmade "take over" the REKAT line...A Sifu with an Axis-lock, reversable pocket-clip, and 154CM steel would be excellent! I had quite a handfull of REKAT folders, and 4-5 REKAT fixed blades, and all were excellent knives, but sadly their management and customer service sucked.

The Carnivore was one of my favorite designs. It was extremely comfortable. I would love to see the REKAT designs make a comeback. I doubt that Benchmade bought the rights to the designs along with the rolling lock.

that would be freakin' awesome if BM had bought the rights. I just handled the new BM 610 toninght while I was in Anchorage. (said to be the largest BM folder ever) Was really disappointed. Couldn't help but think of a Sifu the qualities Glockman had mentioned, except maybe even an S30V or M-2 blade.

some really awesome designs and great innovation. Too bad they were basically a$$holes to thier customers.

have to agree a sifu with the axis (or any other lock other than the horrible rolling lock) would be pretty cool imho.

but really the only 2 designs i cared for were the sifu & the pocket hobbit, ya can have the pioneers/etc, too "rough" looking, the ones i saw just werent finished well at all, also nothing really unique about 'em imho.

I was just handling my Carnivore yesterday. It is a second and bought it for like 30 bucks or maybe even a bit less. The clip moves around a bit but I have to tell ya it opens easily, locks up solid with 0 movement, handle ergo's are ok,but the edge and the slight recurve are what makes it shine for me. keepem sharp

When I first found this place, it was all "Carni this and SIFU that"
The talk of the town if you will.
I almost bought one from their table here in NYC back in 98 or 99, wasn't impressed by the folks behind the table and passed.
They must be decent knives, you don't see alot of them in the aftermarket.
Even after they went down in flames.

Rekat made nice knives (wish I'd kept my D2 Sifu) but their customer service sucked and for those that can't remember, they never responded to posts on their own forum here on BF's.

It takes a lot more than good knife designs to succeed in the knife business. Round Eye Knife And Tool didn't have what it takes.
