I can't believe my luck! I found this one last night, asked the seller if they would consider a buy-it-now, they agreed, then before I saw their reply email someone bought it out from under me! WHAAAAAAAA!!!

I can only hope they don't pay and I get another chance at it. I still get sick when I think about it. THIS SUCKS!

Oh Man!! That is miserable.....I can understand how you feel (I think) That is a steal of a deal. for a 2OT. It may take more than a while to get over it too!!..............Did anyone that frequents here get it?

I know how you must feel Chuck, and I've had it happen as well <but not with a 2OT>..you set the whole deal up, and someone else just stumbles onto it and its off quicker than a bride's nightie.......gut wrenching...what a deal too by a unknowledgeable seller...feel sorry for you mate. Hoo Roo

That complete package is THE SCHRADE DEAL of the CENTURY ! I have diligently searched ebay almost every day for 4 years and i have never before seen a 2OT in it's wooden box. Super Rare and sold for about 1/10th of it's value.
I'm glad it wasn't me that lost out as i would never get over it. Scarred forever.
Stupid to have this much passion over a knife.

G'day Chuck, one final thing you could try..is to appeal to the better sense of justice of the Buyer who would have no idea you had set up the Buy It Now deal. When feedback is left by buyer I would contact through the normal Ebay email and tell him exactly how you missed out on the item you were about to bid on...that buyers history is of an experienced Ebayer and you never know his sense of fair play could possibly prevail and offer it to you....I believe it is worth trying..I certainly would consider a request like yours if I had been the buyer..you may have to pay a premium to him however even at say $150 offer he may consider he has done well into the bargain particularly if he is not a rabid Schrade collector like we all are.....just my thoughts....and good luck..Hoo Roo

Larry, that thought has crossed my mind. I actually tried to contact the seller again hoping that maybe the deal fell through. Your option is my "plan B". I'm not holding out a lot of hope though. You know what makes it even worse is that IF I had had my phone on me when all this went down I would have gotten the message and snatched it up. At the time though, my dad duties were demanding my immediate attention and well, the rest is history. All I can do now is see how it all plays out.

Chuck, i hope you're feeling a little better now. I've missed out on a few exceptional knives (although nothing to compare to this 2OT) and the upset i felt was intense but it did fade with time.

I kind of had that happen with a dan burke cattle knife in bg42,he had it listed for $149 so I paid and a day later he sends an email that he didn't have it anymore(no explanation!)obviously he refunded my money but I was still bummed and I'd been looking for this knife for awhile-anyhow sorry for you loss.

asked the seller if they would consider a buy-it-now,

Chuck, wasn't the item originally listed auction style (@ $29.99 to start) with a Buy it Now fixed at the $65 (+ $5 shipping) sale price? If yes, is it safe to say that you contacted the seller to ask if they would consider a price lower than the $65 (+$5 ship) BIN price listed?

No, it was a straight-up auction to start with. I asked them if they would consider selling at a fixed price (hoping they would settle up outside of ebay). Instead they added the buy-it now and another buyer caught it before I could. I contacted that buyer, but we didn't strike a deal. On the plus side it is in good hands and I've gotten over it. No harm, no foul, just a hope for better luck on the next one.

Good on ya Chuck. There will indeed be another one with your name on it if you keep looking. They are rare but they are out there. Keep the faith!
