I missed the boat, what's so good about ZDP blah blah blah?

Which way did you come in? :p

I have a ZDP Delica. I'm no metallurgist, but it is very hard and holds an edge extremely well.

Hi Endraguy.

Foundries compete to make steels that perform better in certain areas. Edge retention (abrasion resistance) is one of those areas.

Hitachi's new ZDP-189 is a powdered metal process (originally developed by Crucible) blade steel with exceptional chemistry (3% carbon, 20% chrome). It seems to demonstrate exceptional edge retention. Comparable to Crucible's CPM-S90V.

Steel junkies like to play with these new "developments" in the same way that car junkies (or any other junkie) like to experience 600 horsepower in a new sports car.

However, unlike cars, boats or other developing evolutions, with knives it is possible to try them without being rich.

Yep.

Yes, when you have a CEO of a knife company that is more interested in advancing the state of the art than making money by the wheelbarrow putting out cool looking "440" tactical knives by the trainload. Salute!.

By the way, you've had enough rest. You had a day off one time earlier this month. Where's our M4 bladed folder? :;) Joe L.
