I modded my Broken Skull (nothing drastic).

I've been having a little trouble blindly opening my Broken Skull, it's something I can do with my Recon 1's with ease. You know, reach into your pocket while your holding something that needs cut and you somehow just pull your folder and open it. It's almost pure muscle memory. I also found that it was sometimes awkward to get the correct leverage because the angle and location of the stud is a little too close to the scales.

I had noticed that my Recon 1's had a slightly longer stud, so I swapped them. I figured it couldn't hurt to try? It's only one thread longer but man it made a huge difference. It feels "right" now. No wrist flick or trying to find just the right hold anymore. The best part is that the shorter studs work just fine my Recon 1. It does stick up above the scale by the slightest amount on the BS but hasn't been a hindrance to removing it from my pocket. It's only been a couple of days but I haven't found any reason to switch them back, it's just worked out far too well;)

I had no clue how much I would like the Broken Skull model. Just by looking at online you wouldn't think there was much to it but it is one of my favorites. Great grip, long blade, and light in the pocket!

All knives take time to get used to. The Broken Skull lacks a finger groove and the thin handle scales take time to get used to also. (Compared to the Recon 1s.)

Plus the long handle makes it so that one has to "scoot" their hand up further to hit the thumb stud too. (Folks with large hands most likely won't have that problem though.)

I have been carrying my Broken Skull IV (blue) with my satin Colossus for the past week. They are a great EDC option that work well together.

I carried my BS for over a week and I just couldn't get used to it. I have largish hands, it's just that the stud being the same height as the scales and being extra close to said scales made me miss or search for it. It's perfect now, the stud is easy to find and it opens so much smoother.

Man, that Colossus really takes after it's name at 7.2oz! I already carry a phone, flashlight, folder, keys, and wallet. That's why I was so happy with my BS, any place to save weight I take it. I even reduced how many cards I carry in my wallet just to save weight:D
