Has anyone else tried the new LightWedge?

It looks like a good idea, so I ordered one from www.AllDirect.com , which is an Amazon affiliate. It cost $25 instead of $35. I don't know what the difference is.

I took it out of the box and put some batteries in. Actually, the first battery I tried wouldn't go in at all. The battery compartment is too damn tight.

I got some other AAA batteries out, and managed to get four of them in.
Then it wouldn't turn on.
Then I had to get all four of those batteries out again.

I obviously won't keep this one, but should I ask for a replacement, or a refund?

Should I not shop at AllDirect?

What a great idea! Light the whole page! I saw that in some catalog ... now I know why I'm not getting one.

I would suggest going for a refund. They did the concept, they just didn't do the engineering right.

Esav,
remember that I ordered from one of those deep discount places.
I'm wondering if QC is not as good there. Maybe these are even factory rejects. :(
I'll try to find out over the next few days.
Meanwhile, if you want a gadget for bedtime reading, these might be a lot of fun! (I do not worry about looking dorky when I'm reading at night.)

To me it doesn't look like such a good idea because you'd have to move it every time you turned a page.
