I need a better thumbstud

I'd like to replace the thumbstud on several folders but don't know how. I'd like for it to be single sided only and not rough to the touch.

All advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The difficulty that your going to have is that a lot of the holes for thumbstuds are not threaded, and instead they thread into the other thumbstud.

It will also be difficult for you to machine the parts necessary unless you have the equipment already.

somber, you are right, the thumstuds do screw into each other and they tend to come loose. I have a Buck ecd folder that I like because it's light and the blade is decent but the thumbstud sucks. Guess I'll work on smoothing them and use some locktite.

usaknifemaker.com or knifekits.com both carry thumbstuds. No telling which will fit your knife, but it'll give you some idea of whats out there.
