Wanting to get a new folder. Let me comment on what I've got and based on that, maybe it will be clear what I might like?
Recon 1: It's alright. I'm not real partial to it.
Pro-Tech: Had I been able to feel the texture(media blast) of it first; I wouldn't have bought it. Has a very displeasing feel to it.
MicroTech: Had I been able to have opened/closed the knife before purchase; I wouldn't have bought it. That button takes a lot of pressure to open/close the knife. Would be a lot more enjoyable to open/close repeatedly if it had an easier action to it.
Sog Trident: Feel the same towards it as I do the Recon 1.
Kershaw Ken Onion Scallion: My least favorite knife. It has a nice action to it, but I don't like the blade shape/size.
Gerber Harsey Air Ranger: Add that knife to your collection. I got use to nearly all my knifes having non metal scales. Then I got this one. It was like when I got my first SIG. All my previous guns were polymer. First time I held it I was like "wow". This knife is tits. It opens so fricken fast it's unreal for not being spring assist. Has a really nice feel to it. Just something about it being all metal. Wish it carried tip up though.
Ti-Lite: It's alright, on the verge of being considered a sword by some.
Spyderco Centofante 3: Interesting/odd knife. Really thin blade though. Lightweight. Opens/closes great.
Voyager: Would like a bigger one, but every time I go look at them in person, I don't particularly like how they look.
556 Mini-Grip: I've had this knife since 2002. It was my edc until ~2007. It's been opened hundreds if not thousands of times and it still has such a nice action to it. What ever type of washers BM uses, they are really good. This knife still opens like new. You know all that stuff they say not to do with a knife? Use it for a pry bar or a screw driver, etc? This knife has done it all.
Endura: For the money, and if I was just starting out, this would be top choice for a first knife. I wish I would have got this knife way back in 1991 or whenever they first came out. I really like this knife.
RAT Model 1: Nice knife for the money. Just not crazy about the blade shape. Has that "butter knife" shape to it.
Flash II: Same comments as above.
Flash I: I have another one of these(not pictured). It is my edc and it replaced my mini-grip. Reasons: The job I got in `07(and still have); we aren't supposed to have knifes. The BM stuck out of my pocket too much. Also I wanted a little bit smaller knife(less pocket space). I needed something that was sacrificial(Cheap, so if lost or broken, no big deal). This knife has done it all. It has actually seen more abuse then the BM. I liken this knife to a .380. Always have at least those on you. Sure you've got bigger stuff. The convenience though. The Flash I is always on me and gets used daily.
BM 710: Awesome action to it, but I hate that curve in the blade.
Police: This is my favorite knife. I like the length of the blade and how thin this knife is. It's very nicely made too.
Military: My second favorite. Riddle me this though. WHY and I mean WHY, is it tip down and blade forward? Look at the majority of my knifes: tip up/blade back. I have to carry the Military in my left pocket as a backup knife due to this. I would like this knife so much more if the clip was different.
I'm itching for a new folder but I just can't find anything.
