I need some names of some great cheap knives that one wouldn't mind abusing, " and also practice free hand sharpening with a whetstone " So I am looking for something cheap enough that I wouldn't mind abusing it, but durable enough it wouldn't just snap in half or break down after some good use. Specs I am looking for, 2-4 inches long, use would be for EDC, and looking for it to be a folding knife, thanks. Preferably not made in china.

search - Kershaw Knives, Fixed Blades
I found a place that has a whole page of choices under fifty dollars

Mora knives. There practically immune to abuse and at 10 bucks...

Sorry didn't read the folding knife part. Honestly go to Walmart or equicalemt and pick out a cheap knife...

Whats your definition of cheap? For me that would mean anything under $50. There are a bunch of USA made Kershaws and Bucks in that price range. I would personally take a Kershaw over a Buck but that's just me. I don't even know what style of knives to list without knowing more though. Do you like traditional style knives, flippers, liner lock there are just to many variables...

How about a nice Svord peasant? Or one of the Spyderco Byrd knives?

Just wanted to edit to add that as a somewhat newbie sharpener myself, I'm finding Buck's 420HC and Case's CV to be nice and easy to get to arm hair shaving sharp.

Hit the flea market and yard sales. Old Hickory kitchen knives in that size (paring) can be found all over the place for next to nothing. I recently picked up 10 Victorinox SAKs of various sizes at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio for $2.00 each.

I will also say the Rat 1 it's the best knife I've ever had for $30. And if you must buy US made then the Kershaw Skyline is about $35-$40 and the Leek is about the same.

I think the Kershaw Chill is a good rock-bottom priced blade. Decent steel and great for EDC and costs under $20.

Otherwise if you don't mind spending more you can get a Spyderco Delica which has VG-10 steel which is a great steel and you can get one for around $50-$60.

CRKT makes some great low-cost knives. Plus a couple of them are made in the USA. I just got an M16-10K, and it's awesome! Fun little flipper, reasonably sharp, but really easy to sharpen.
