After reading the recent thread about 112, I decided I want another 112. They seem to be great for EDC. I was thinking something along the lines of NS bolsters  and stag (Like TLC's beautiful knife). I was thinkng of trading a few of my knives to get one, but I did not have any I really cared to come off of ;). I have a few projects that are hanging in the air, so it may be a little while before I can afford a custom. I guess I can wait until tax refund comes.

My question is, How much should I expect to pay for a nice custom 112? I have seen them on the bay for around $130-170 for the one I want. Is this about right?

Should I buy a knife that has been rescaled by someone other than Buck's staff, If so what would be the price for one of them?

Thanks,
John

If you are a BCCI member and if you are not in a rush, you may want to get one of the Asian water buffalo models that will match the recent 110 club release. If you are not yet a club member, this provides a proper incentive to join!!

And if you do some serious "googling", you can find the current 112 stag limited edition for about $100.

Thanks guys for the replies. I am not really in a hurry to get it, so I will keep my eye out for them. What is the model number for the 112 with BG42 steel?

Thanks,
John

John, this is a post from Joe H. in an old thread:
A couple years before Buck moved to Idaho I got the shop to do a special run of BG-42 112 blades. If I remember right, it was less than 200 blades. We used them for blade swaps only. YOu could send in your 112, plus $35, and we would switch out the blades. The blades are all gone now, and so is the blade swap service.
If you do find one of these out there for sale, the blade will be laser etched BG-42 on the oposite side of the stamp.

That Bufflo Chip 112 thats will be orderable in Dec. thru the Newsletter is one not to be missed! Wh4f is there a Ion 112?

I had really thought about getting that one, but when I made a trip to the store in TN. Everyone of the knives had something wrong with them. Some did not close all the way others had terrible blade play. At the time I was looking for an older knife in their DCed counter. I was looking for a Case two blade congress with carbon blades. Out of 7 or 8 knives none of the blades met up with the back spring just right. They looked real bad. I looked through them all to find the best one. I bought it, but before I could pull out of the parking lot I went back in to refund it.I have never bought a knife from them since. It is too bad because they have the knife I want and at a good price.

Thanks,
John

...???...A knifeshop that sells coffee???...:rolleyes::p

Among other things such as candles, shirts, hats, keychains, jelly, and many other petty things to bring in an extra buck. To me it is just a tourist attraction. It is nice to go see wall to wall displays full of knives. But when 90% of the knives are China made junk and the other 10% is good brand knives but look like seconds, it lets you down inside.

I picked up a stag 112 from SMKW and it came Thursday ( no pics yet) and I must say it is 100% to me. Nice stag and tight blade......top notch to me....

From what I hear from 334 Buck employes did many, many strange things...
