Well, I am moving to Montana soon and I need to find a smaller EDC. My BM Skirmish I believe is a little to big for Montana which states a blade under four inches. I've been looking around a bit but I must admit I am somewhat stuck on a big folder...I got used to the skirmish and just love it. :D
What would you recommend for an EDC with a blade just under 4 inches?

Benchmade BM710 D2

Benchmade Griptillian, awesome edc and built very strong, with the same locking mechanism as the 710. (axis lock)

I would suggest a Sebbie or a Kershaw Mini Cyclone; with the ZDP-189 blade & titanium scales.

I'll have to look into the BM710.
I have very limited experience with the Axis lock though. I seem to remember having seen similar locks that were rather shoddy and weak. I'll have to read up on those first.

If you already like the Skirmish, why not get the BM635 MINI-Skirmish?
Blade Length: 3.43"

the lock on the 710 is very very nice=) but yeah, the mini skirmish is also a great choice

Believe it or not I actually am not overly fond of the mini skirmish. I was fortunate enough to be in a pass-around with a mini skirmish and was glad to have the experience before I bought one. Not a bad knife, but I would like something better/different.

Axis locks are high quality, secure and strong. I suggest (in this order, top to bottom):

Spyderco Manix (3.75")
Spyderco Military (exactly 4")
Benchmade 710 (3.9")
Spyderco Endura (any version- 3 13/16")
Kershaw Junk Yard Dog II (3.75")
Benchmade Dejavoo (3.95")

Just got a CS Rescue today. Looks like a keeper and we all know the lockup on CS is proven. $50 shipped to my door.

Sure, I have Vaqueros and Voyagers too. But have wanted one of these since they were introduced. I have no time for $100 up knives. I buy mine cheap and use em hard. Always have, Always will. If I break it, I trash it and pick up another.

Still haven't broken one of my CS Folders, yet!:)

Kinda big to EDC for most people but a MOD Mark I is what I EDC every day. You get used to carrying it although it is kinda mall ninjaish.
Or else a SOG Trident, which is my other EDC low profile so it works well with more revealing clothes such as athletic shorts ectr.

If you want to stick with a recurve, a Kerhshaw Lahar is a really nice knife.

If you want something large but shorter than 4 inches, try the Spyderco Manix, which is a big strong knife.
