I'm looking for a new EDC knife and i thought that you guys might be able to give me recommendations based off of personal experiences.
I'm just looking for a good basic knife that is:

  • under $75-100
  • one-handed opening
  • sturdy
  • folding
  • pocket clip

Thanks for your help

Welcome to the BladeForums :) There are plenty of knives that fit this bill. Spyderco and Kershaw make MANY folders that are very reasonably priced, Benchmade has some nice ones as well. I'd suggest going to some of the sub forums and looking at the picture threads to give you some ideas as well. Personally I'd suggest a Zero Tolerance 0200, Spyderco Sage 1 or a Kershaw Rake. All are well built, worth the money and are from excellent, reputable companies. Let us know what you ultimately decide on :)

Spyderco PM2. I'd also look at the Buck Vantage Pro.

Listen you are going to get 1000 rdifferent responses of everyones opinion.

instead look at what the top knives are that everyone agrees upon.

Spyderco:
Military as the #1 pick probably of any knife in your price range

Benchmade

Griptilian

Emerson
CQC-7

I'd actually suggest a Spyderco Delica 4 (on Amazon.com for ~$50) or a SOG Aegis Mini (on Amazon ~40). I've had nothing but positive experiences with both. Good luck!

Spyderco Endura, Native, or Manix2
Benchmade: 550, 15020
Victorinox either Trekker or Champ

For my money, the Sage I is unbeatable at that price point. It's an amazingly practical, ergonomic knife, at a perfect size. Build quality and cutting ability are second to none.

Hello,

You cant go wrong with the Para 2 or the Manix 2. If you like lock backs then the Endura 4ffg is very nice for $60 or the Stretch for about $75. The Sage 1&3 are sweet and you can pick witch lock you like most. Im not into cold steel but some people really love them, they have a lot of knives in your price range. I didnt like my Benchmade griptilian but A LOT of guys here really really love them.

I dont think you can go wrong with any knife Spyderco makes in the $50-$100 price range as long as you buy it knowing what the knife is meant to do.

Have a good one,

Chris

$30 and under - Kershaw Leek (assisted opening), Buck vantage select (small and large sizes), Kershaw Skyline, Kabar Dozier, Kershaw Speed Bump

$60 and under - Spyderco Delica(3") or Endura(3.75"), Buck Vantage Pro, Kershaw Blur (assisted), Benchmade Mini-griptillian, Spyderco Native

$100 - Spyderco Military (4 inch blade), Benchmade Griptillian

There's a list of very popular knives at your price points. All are sturdy, one-handed opening knives with a pocket clip. Look them all up and see which one you like the most, because we aren't the ones who are going to put it in your pocket every day, you are. Higher price points generally mean better looks and better steel/handle material, at least in the list above. I can personally attest to the good quality of the Buck Vantage Pro, Kershaw Blur, and Kershaw Leek. I also have the Spyderco Endura but I haven't really gotten a chance to use it yet.

A.G. Russell Italian Tactical
A.G. Russell Titanium Framelock Spearpoint
Kershaw Knockout
All very nice and in your price range.

Almost forgot, the Benchmade 710 can be found for just over $100 on websites that will sell below MAAP. It's a whole lot of knife for the money.

Spyderco Manix2 or Para2.
You could also look in the "For Sale" threads and find something.

Might help if you look through Spyderco, Benchmade, and Kershaw's offerings and tell us what appeals to you. You want to get an EDC that calls your name, not just go off of forum recommendations sight unseen. There are a LOT of good knives out there.

For $100 you can get Zero Tolerance 0350. S30V blade, assisted opening, tip up or down carry, flipper, thumb stud, thick liner lock, beefy blade, DLC coated blade. And the Best warranty service out there "No questions asked". Seriously can't beat it.

The Kershaw Blur is also awesome, S30V blade for around $75, assisted, tip up or down carry and the same awesome warranty as the ZT.

Good luck in your EDC search... I wonder what you will get?

Just carry a few different knives; I carry Spyderco's, a Benchmade, and an Emerson.

Buck Vantage? Small or large, they're a great design and they slice like awesome slicey things that slice well.

the buck vantage series are some of the best knives at their price point and i recommend them highly. if the OP is willing to spend $100, a vantage isn't kicking one on my para2's out of my pocket as a main EDC ;)
