I Need A New ESEE

I hate to be the person that strolls onto the scene here on the ESEE Forums wondering which one to buy first.....but that is the person I am going to sound like here.

I'm looking to spend up to the price of a 5 shipped. I already have a HEST, which was my first. I'm looking to add to the collection, but am not sure what to buy.

I'm either looking at taking care of the 5, or purchasing a combination of a 3 or 4, complemented with either an Izula or a Lite Machete. All of these knives and combos come in under the price of an RC5 shipped.

I don't necessarily need any of them; if I need a good slicer or smaller blade, I have a Military, a Sebenza, or a Ritter RSK Mk1, et cetera. If I want a small fixed blade, I have a HEST. If I need a hard-use knife, the Becker BK9 and others fill that role well.

But, I want an ESEE. I have more than enough knives, but wanted a good consensus from the intelligent people here on the ESEE forum before pulling the trigger.

It's not like I won't own them all some day soon anyways. :D Which ones come first?

Thanks for putting up with the 1,237th time this question has been asked.

God bless.

KATN,

Wade

You can always do what I did. Sell all of your knives on Ebay. With that money I think I now have just about enough money to buy one each of every ESEE!!!!

3mil or a 6 with the molle back and pouch are my 2 favorites.

enjoy the search

I would say a 4 or a 6. Or a 5.

Really, whatever you choose you'll be more than happy. I bought a hest, then 2 izulas, then a 5, then a junglas, and then a 4. So yeah, whatever you buy it won't be your last.

Since you don't necessarily need a knife for a particular use, the "wow" factor of the 5 would be nice!:D

I really like my 3-MIL, but if you have a HEST, they are pretty close in size. Still, if I didn't have a 3-MIL, I would be ordering one.

The ESEE 5 is a stout bit of hardware and I'm quite pleased with mine. You couldn't go wrong either way.

My ESEE3-MIL took the place of my Benchmade Rant as my general purpose walk-in-the-woods knife of choice. It's small enough to be discreet, but serious enough to be useful.

If I knew I would be spending some time in the woods (more than a day or two), I would definitely be taking my RC-5.

That's my $.02.

Read the 5 pass-around thread (if you haven't already)... that should help you make up your mind.

I would also go with the 5. It is a beast of a blade (1/4 in. thick) , and it has some sick features (breaking glass and starting fires is always fun!)

I started with an izula (which i edc) and recently purchased a 4.

I know I will eventually have to buy more...

Started with the 4 and complimented that with an IZzy. That combo seems to outshine all my others.

I'd go with the ESEE 5 for sure! Then later you can buy the molle back and pouch off the ESEE web site for one sweet set up.:D

The good news is, there's lots of options. That's also the bad news.
What works for one guy, isn't the best for another. It all depends on your needs/chores/climate and many other factors.
I could get by with almost any combo, it just depends on where I'm going, and what time of year.
You won't be dissappointed, you will just want to get another.
I don't have a 3 or 6, but I don't think I "NEED" them.
Lite Machete if you visit the jungle, Junglas otherwise, or both.

I'd go with a 6,it's a great slicer and all around camp knife. If you want a bomb proof knife, that absolutely will not fail, get the 5.I think I talked myself into you getting a 5.:D
