Hi Everyone,

Very glad to find these forums. I'm looking for a new knife, something that will not break the bank but is very good quality. I have looked at the new Spydercos and owned a Delica for a few years but I want something different. What's another good brand I should check out. I will be using it to open boxes, mail, take hiking, etc...

Thanks! :)

What size?
a Folder?
So are we talkin' light duty? Minor work during the coarse of a week?
Can I assume when on long hikes this knife would serve as a back up?
Can you narrow it down with your likes and dislikes, maybe?
I could recommend several knives but I think you want a knife more fitted to you not me. what do ya think? Any ideas?

Definitely check out Benchmade, and look at the Griptilians. They come in large and small, and you can get either of two different blade shapes, one with an opening hole and one with a thumbstud. The small come in a variety of colors, too. Great ergonomic handle, axis lock, designed for utility, not combat.

I agree with Esav, the Griptilian and Mini-Griptilian lines are the best deal for you money (IMHO).

not combat? so why did they make a trainer fot it?
unless by "combat" you mean becker-like knives, not fighting ones...

anyway i second the griptillian. also check out the 350 pardue (if we are really talking light duty) , it`ll have a colective value since benchmade won`t make them anymore (or am i wrong?)
