Don't we all LOL. Guys Im looking for a fixed blade for EDC Camping and hunting chores. I know that there are alot of companies that offer a wide selection of knives that would work, But I want a knife that would have been used back in the 50s and 60s. Im not one to baton so a big thick blade is not needed. What would you suggest? Thanks As always pics are welcome.

Try one of these; Buck Nighthawk or the short Nighthawk if the blade length is an issue or USMC Kabar. Prices should be similar $45-55. I think they would all do a good job for your stated needs

How about a good old schrade165 woodsman. The USA made ones can be found on a popular auction site frequently.

Take a look at the Blackjack 125. It's a heavy duty hunter. The drop point blade was popularized by Bob Loveless starting in the 60's.

Christian is right on with the Blackjack (around $175 in stag, or $25 less with micarta handle). I got one for Christmas and it is a BEAUTY! and the A2 convexed edge is mighty sharp.

For less money I would go with the Kabar USMC or an Ontario Spec Ops 1 or 2 (under $50), depending on blade length desired.

Well, what about with the Ka Bar USMC Short? The standard modell seems to be a little bit to big for you.
What do you think about any knife from scandinavia? Scandi and wooden handles... also some kind of traditional (european) knife...

Kind regards

How about a Marbles Fieldcraft or a Trailcralt. Both nice knives and not too big. Good at field dressing game too.

And if you are thinking a EDC the Buck 102 is a great little knife that doesn't take up aloy of room:thumbup:

Lots of good old steel to be had out there used. That's where I'd look. I usually take a sharpfinger with me in the situations you describe.

It might be modern but it looks timeless, the Buck Gen5 Skinner with blackwood handle. Very nice knife for skinning obviously but is a great fishing and food prep knife. Not too big either so it packs nicely, one of my favourite sheath knives.

Any Puukko or Mora would fit your bill too and they can be low cost but decent.

Consider Queen Cutlery's fixed range in Amber Carved Bone, some appealing knives here alright and timeless. The D2 comes oddly sharp on their fixed stuff....sheathes are a bit variable on these but tolerable. Good bargain.

Thanks for all the replys, Im lookin hard at the Buck 102, seems like it might be the right one for me. Again thanks for all of your input.
