I need a new micro tool

I really love my Leatherman Micra, but I've abused it a bit too much...the scissors don't hold up well as wire cutters...

Should I just buy another Micra or are there better alternatives out there? Maybe a SAK? Any ideas?

You could try something like the SOG Crossgrip which has wirecutters built into them.

No scissors thoughs...just a pair of mini-pliers...

I think any of those scissor type tools are just going to end getting ruined on cutting wire.

Another suggestion would be something from the Leatherman juice series. Not overly big and there you get the option of scissors, pliers and wirecutters all in one.

I don't really need wirecutters. I just didn't have anything else handy and used my Micra. Normally I carry my Wave with me...

Well in that case I'd just get another Micra then. I had on 'til I lost it not so long ago and it was a great little tool. I find that they cut more efficiently than the SOG crosscut.

Or you may want to wait for the Leatherman squirt to come out. Not sure when they're due to be released. Soon I think.

Buy another LM Micra, but don't abuse it next time. Use the right tool for the job.:).

Has anyone reading this tried the SOG Crosscut? Seems very similar to the crossgrip, but with scissors. Has the force multiplier cog system like the crossgrip. the blades look more robust than the scissors blades on the micra.

I was torn between the 2 a year and a half ago. the micra only lasted about 6 months.:( Gave up on the idea.

Now I just have the dinky scissors on the Vic Midnight Manager (very handy I might add..), and anything bigger just gets hacked with a blade. Or finely sliced, depending.

I carry a SOG Crosscut on my keychain. Great tool, lots of leverage with the scissors. I highly recommend this little gem.

Hey Guys...

The Cross cut is a Really nice little tool...

Heres a picture of it in one of my Micro Rigs on Ron's keys..

Hi NGK...

Now would I make it if it didn't work ?? :)

It stays in Very well,, it won't fall out,,and short of getting hit by a loaded New York city bus,, it will stay in until you need it.

The Tool has to be popped out,,like snapping a pencil sort of..Keeps the kiddies and coworkers from playing with it as well..:)

I have one of Normark's sheaths for a Micra. The fit is perfect; you have to snap it in or out. Mine's never come out unexpectantly.

If you've had your micra for less than 25 years, there's always the repair option. May be worth the postage. I'm curious about the crosscuts as well. The squirts are suppose to be nice too. Tough choices:confused:

I've had it for a few years, but surely not 25...I sent them an email about it...

I'll see what I can do about my Micra and I'm looking into buying a Crosscut, so between the two I think I'll have something! ;)

Of course, maybe I should buy a small SAK anyway...:D

I have about 20 SAKs. Of the small ones, I carry the manager II. It has a nice small phillips & slotted, Pen, Scissors, file, Tweezers, of course knife, and it'll open a beverage bottle in a pinch. nice and small.

I love my little Crosscut! For tough jobs it can't be beat. For fine cutting the Micra is a little better... (shh!!!) ;)
My Micra needs to be repaired, the scissors are binding up. On the bright side, I hear LM has a fantastic warranty as well...

I can attest that Eric's rig is amazing! It holds my CrossCut in there securely! It ain't going anywhere! It looks good with my keys, too! Don't you think?

So Eric, "Mrs. Eric" has yours, huh? ;)
