I'm looking for a good pack with at least 3000 cubic inches space and I'd like it to be 200$ canadian or less including S&H... don't really care about the colour, although black or camo would be best.. Please include any possible links with replies...

Thanx
Morkaleb

Have you checked out any offerings from BlackHawk yet? I have one and it's great. I don't have alot of time to search and help you, but here are a few:

BlackHawk
Eagle
Mountainsmith
Arcteryx
Osprey

It may be a little small for your tastes (2800 ci), but I have been eyeing a Spec Ops Brand Recon Ruck. Basically an updated USGI Alice pack. Available in Black, OD or camo. $89.99 USD plus $20 Canadian UPS delivery from the OneStopKnifeShop here at the forum, should keep you well under $200 Canadian if the exchange rate is still ~1.5:1.

Good luck, and let us all know what you decide on.

It's an asolo encounter 70.

70l of storage in the main compartment, it's made of ripstop nylon and canvas with PVC lining to make it more water resistant. It's comes with a removable top which can become a fanny pack and it comes with a rain cover.

The main compartment has three entry points, two of them are heavy duty metal zippers, which are non-wieght bearing and a drastring which is covered by the top/fanny pack part.

All the straps, which are sewn on very firmly (my mom is a seamstress by hobbie, and examined them all quite thoroughly). And they are all very adjustable, which is extremely important as I have a rather unsual build. (fairly short, very broad.)

Finally, one of the bigger selling features, it's hidration pack compatable. I'll have to make some small modifications to the part the holds the bladder, since the bladder I have is a little older. but it shouldn't be a problem.

And, all this for only 130 canadain. Which, for what I got, is a pretty sweet price. All in all, a good pack for the $. I'll post a pic when I find one, or I have a chance to take one. I'm taking it camping next week, so I'll post a review of it then.

Yeah, that's a nice pack, but it's too small. I would have some troubles fitting into that pack what I can fit into mine. The encounter 70 has aprox 2860ci.. My trips are for the most part only weekenders, but I would like to be able to comfortably use the same pack for longer trips, which the extra cargo space is essential.
Plus, being a big guy I can carry a pretty heavy pack, I want to stuff 60lbs into it this next time.

Here are a couple water-proof packs.

http://www.gaiaoutdoors.com/waterproof.htm and http://www.ortliebusa.com/packs/packs.html

Of course not one of the packs offered is 3000 cu. in. .
Gaia has a 6600 and 2200. Ortlieb's largest is around 1500.

But they are all good...really...I wouldn't lie...seriously
;) :D .

The gaiaoutdoors link is outdated - they have a new site up at: http://www.gaiasports.com

for the waterproof bags, you have to go to:

I'm going to drop a real sleeper in your lap: JANDD. www.jandd.com. I got turned onto JANDD when I was a wrench in a bike shop. At employee purchase prices, I was able to make a serious investment in this company without much cash, but even at full price they're more than a deal. I have bike bags, panniers, their suit carrier, full size hiking pack, bookbag style backpack, messenger's bag, etc and they are bombproof. The only thing that sucks about JANDD is that they aren't widely distributed except for their bike bags, which every bike shop in the country sells, and their bags are so well-built if you like to change your gear fairly regularly you will be disappointed... their bags just keep going and going and going. Their website is pretty friendly. Check out the seconds, closeouts, etc area. Can't go wrong.

Check into the Semper Paratus Tactical bags.

I have the smaller, and it holds a ton of kit.

Maybe in a couple years will upgrade to the Scout pack.

These pups are well put together, and comfortable with a load of over 40 lbs.

Here it is with a Proteus and PackRat on it for size comparison.

Here is just the Pack Rat with it.

The Kifaru Pointman might be a great pack for you but it is probably more than you want to spend. If I had the extra money laying around, I'd by a Kifaru in a heartbeat!

If you want to go really huge, military, cheap. . . take a look at the CFP-90. These have darn near 7,000 cubic inches. I can't imagine needing more than that!

Do a search on google for: CFP-90 lots of sites will come up that sell it.

Chiro75, thanks for the link. I like for my B.O.B.s to be as civilian and mundane looking as possible. I will check these out. :)

LOL, that's just the lighting. THe straps are tan, the bag coyote.

I picked one up the same time Mike did, and I'm loving mine! I've used it on several smaller trips already and it has carried well and had no wear. I find the compartments simple and well laid-out for my needs. It's about to be my main smaller pack for a Belize trip I'm leaving for tonight....we'll see how it performs.

Also, I've added a camelbak storm 100oz hydration bladder system to it, and they go together well. It fits right in the pack's hydration sleeve and the hydration slots on the shoulders of the pack work well.

Good info on the bags...but don't expect a reply from the original poster. I wondered why the thread had no preview info.
