I have an old Strider WP-4 fixed blade (don't judge - it was before I knew any better, haha) in BOS treated S30V that I'm going to give away to a friend whose camping knife was lost recently. It used to have the cord wrap, and now I'd like to have some pretty simple blaze orange G10 slabs put on it and have them fastened with two tube fasteners through existing holes in the tang.

I know the G10 slabs can be had for super cheap from the knife suppliers online (in 5"x1.5"x3/8" blocks for ~$10), but who can and will shape and fasten these things? Any budding knife makers/modders want some practice, or are otherwise willing to do it pretty cheap and pretty soon? The knife is AD sized, more or less, but I just don't know anyone who does this sort of work.

Thanks.

The knife (in it's original form):

there are a few makers on here that likely would. Siegle modds knives occasionally. Krein might. (not sure on turn around).

As to how quick?

Heck, I put G-10 handles on my own garage made knife, and they turned out ok for a first attempt. It is really not too hard. I for sure would not want to try on a Strider, unless it was mine (did I mention I have lost more than one of my knives before????????.........just saying).

You could do it your self, with the most basic of tools. Files, sand paper, and mini hack saw............and Vice if you wanted tube fasteners.

There's no quicker turn around or greater gratification than doing it yourself...if you have the tools and means to do it that is :D.

thanks for the suggestions everyone, I knew you guys would know.

and usually I'd do something like this myself, but as this will be a gift and I'm on a time-table - I don't want a home-made job.

I'll ping a few of those folks and see what's up.

;)
