I've tried contacting Cold steel they don't have any in stock.I've seen some custom sheaths but they cost as much as the knife did.Anyone have any good alternatives?

I had a leather one made by a maker who passed away a while back. Great guy, great sheath. I love leather, but leather may not be the best choice for Carbon V. My Trailmaster rusted pretty badly, although the conditions were admittedly pretty nasty (Northwest Territories river (Nahanni) in September). I understand Carbon V's composition changes from time to time, but I betcha it still rusts fairly badly. Maybe a sheath of artificial material from someone good like Normark. And keep it dry or coated in oil.

What knife do you have? Carbon V is the steel's name, not the model of the knife.

I have made leather sheathes for virtually all of my Carbon V blades. I treat the leather by melting in a liberal coating of SnowSeal with a heat gun, which serves to prevent the leather from absorbing moisture and causing rust. I also wipe my high carbon blades down with BreakFree. That still won't prevent light rust if the blade is wet for days on end, but it does a pretty good job. Other rust preventatives may work better.
