In Spydercos I currently have 2 PM-2's and a Pacific Salt. Would like to pick up a Taichung knife that is representative of the quality they are known for building. What would you get and what are the reasons for the choice?

I'm a huge Sage 1 fan. Great blend of good edc size, wire clip and fit and finish. In saying that I also have a Chaparral, Mantra and GB2. All are great.

That's a tough one. I love pretty much all of my Taichung blades. In front of me right now is a Chaparral that had been pocketed for weeks now. And a GB2, Domino, Positron. The Domino was actually my first Spyderco, which was probably my first mistake. Was hooked from that point on. [emoji51]

There's so many good ones. My favorite is the Gayle Bradley series but I suggest finding one you like the looks of and pull the trigger.

Depends on your budget. If you don't mind spending a good chunk, I can say that my Slysz Bowie is second to none in my collection. A real showcase of what Taichung can do. Also, my sage 2 sees a LOT of pocket time and always surprises me with its quality.

I highly 2nd this, and the liner lock. But if that lock isn't desirable, it comes in all others, I think.

Well they're pretty much all winners so whatever floats your boat. I'd recommend the Domino, Techno, Chubby or Gayle Bradley 1.

The Slysz Bowie is my favorite of the Taichung blades. It's actually my favorite Spyderco period!

Big fan of the Sages here too. Nice middle of the road size. Chaparral is great if you want smaller. Gayle Bradley is awesome if you want a bigger hard user. Mantra is next for me. Like others have said, you can't go wrong with any of them. Just look through the catalog (or website), check the sizes & features of each and pick one you like.

Get the brothers:

Slysz Bowie (Sebenza Killer :)
Techno - Amazing tough little knife

All Spyderco Taiwan knives are built to a very high standard.

I'd say start with either Chaparral 1 (2.8" XHP, CF Laminate, Back Lock) or Sage 1 (3" S30V, CF Laminate, Liner Lock) for about $120. The high quality is still there and the price is right.

For something closer in size to PM2 try the Gayle Bradley 2 which is about the same price but tougher and heavier.

I'll refresh my response.
Chaparral is like a Dragonfly crossed with a Delica, but more refined. Good blade ratio for the handle size. Sage 1 is like a shorter leaf shaped bladed PM2 with a very smooth action like a PM2 but in a liner lock, don't think crappy liner lock. It's super smooth and fun to operate with the big access cut out in the scales. GB2 is another beast all together, but a good beast. Super strong liner lock but a little hard to disengage first up. It's a real cutter in the blade shape and M4. Mantra is a flipper delica in a Ti frame lock handle with the same cutting edge length as a PM2, again in M4 steel.

You will do no wrong with any of them, or the other models suggested by others.
