I need a tip

This is a factory knife with a factory edge and tip... I'm thinking that I will need to or need to have this knife reprofiled in order to give this a proper tip. The edge itself I would say is at something steep like a 25 degree per side, which does give it an edge but also makes it so that it never really makes a point. A slight drop in the point from finishing also exacerbates the problem, resulting in this.

What way should I go about fixing this? is a total reprofile the best bet?

And if putting a proper bevel on it doesn't seal the deal with the point, it's trivial to drop the spine to finish the job. But reprofile first, it may be all that's needed.

I just put a sharpie marker on the the edge and ran it 30 times or so on each side on the 40 degree inclusive edge side... its not even touching the angle. I'm beginning to think this is something more like 35 or 40 degrees per side. yikes!

I think this is going to be a job for something involving power tools... Or just plain getting sent out to someone to professionally reprofiled.

I think if you're going to get into power tools I might just spend the $5 or whatever to get a professional to do it for you.

We have a few people here in Ohio who are highly recommended, Richard J is in Columbus, what part of Ohio?

I had Krein knives (http://kreinknives.net) grind the spine of my spyderco delica so it had a splinter picker tip & also had him bevel the spine like on a calypso jr.

Tom does fantastic work, reasonable rates & quick turnaround time.
