I really have no idea about watches, so any help will be appreciated. These are the ones that I have been looking at:

Invicta 8926 SS Auto diver
Luminox SS Seal/Diver
Casio G-Shok SS

I really like the looks of the Invicta, but I really don't know much about them. What do you guys think of the ones mentioned, and where should I look for the best deals? Any other suggestions?

What price range are you looking for?

What kinds of activities are you going to wear it for?

A beater? An edc watch?

I really want one for EDC. One that I can wear hunting, swimming, working on the ranch, and one that looks good enough to wear to work. The price range could run from $150 to $500 if that is possible.

You DEFINATELY need a seiko 5, military. Best watch EVER.

You can find good deals and selections of watches at:

ebay.com
skywatches.com.sg (if you don't mind shipping/handling from singapore)
roachman.com
chronograph.com
westcoastime.com
broadarrow.net
princetonwatches.com

hope it helps. :)

Seiko Orange or Black monster - awesome diver, great price. G-shocks are also very cool, especially the metal ones.

Or, if you're willing to spend a bit more money: Yao Seiko. Hard to beat.

I believe I've narrowed it down to the Invicta or the Seiko dive watch auto with a ss band. I will sleep on it, and possibly research more of the watches that you guys have recommended in the morning before I order. If anyone has one they would like to throw in, then please do so.

THANKS!!

A jewelry store has the Invicta that I want for $375, but I have found it on some of the links that you guys posted for $100. Are these watches all that great? Rank with a Fossil? I have no idea, so please excuse my ignorance.

The Seiko Black/Orange Monsters are great watches for the money.

I've acquired a few watches over the past months, but the Monster stays on my wrist.

I'm a watch newbie, however I've learned some things recently.

First of all, Fossil is junk.

Secondly, if you like the Invicata Submariner, then you are wanting to buy a copy of a Rolex Submariner. And if you're going to do that, at least do it right and get a Sandoz Submariner. Uses the swiss ETA 2824 movement and has a sapphire crystal for about $75 more.

Hint, check ebay.

Thirdly, research on http://www.timezone.com/ and http://www.pmwf.com/main.htm (this last one is a good one for you and your budget as well as alot of us).

Citizen Skyhawk Eco-Drive in either SS or Ti.

Don't buy the invicta for $375, unless it's the 9937 (the one with the swiss movement and sapphire crystal). If it's the 8926, order it from the internet for around $100-ish, shipped. IMHO, the 8926 is a decent watch, but the 9937 is overpriced for what it is - even with internet pricing. Jewelry shops aren't always the most competitive when it comes to less expensive watches. If you're looking to spend in the $300 range, there are a LOT of options beyond Invicta. You may want to consider either buying one nice watch, or a couple decent watches.

For a little more than $200, you can get a customized seiko from MkII - and they're really nice. If I could spare that kind of money, I would be wearing one right now. (Stupid car payment. :) )

Another brand to consider is Poljot. You can get a nice, tough, mechanical chronograph in the $200-ish range.

The Seiko Orange/Black Monster (model # SKX779 or SKX781) are really nice in the $150-ish range. The band is hard to beat, and it's a big, tough watch, with original styling. My current EDC is the Orange Monster.

Sandoz makes a pretty good Submariner clone. It has a swiss movement, and sapphire, and runs in the $150-ish range. You can find them on E-bay.

Have you ever owned a mechanical watch? They're a bit different than quartz. They have a lot more personality, but aren't nearly as accurate.

If you decide to buy a mechanical watch, buy a G-shock to go with it. You can find pretty killer deals on them if you look. CostCo occasionally has them for very cheap. The Solar Atomic's are really sweet - no need to change batteries, and it sets itself to the atomic clock. I wouldn't want to wear one all the time - but it's nice to have when you're out doing real work, and don't want to mess up your mechanical watch.

If you're interested in watches, go to watchuseek.com and check out the poor man's watch forum. Great bunch of folks and lots of information. Careful though, you'll wind up with a new hobby!

I think you are right. Just the little time that I have been researching these watches, I can tell that this could get out of hand. It sure is fun though.

I have narrowed it down to the Seiko Automatic Diver SKX007k with either a Jubilee or Oyster band. Now I just need to find a good price. I have found several on Ebay, but they are located in Singapore. This is it by the way-

If you are set on the Seiko SKX007 you might wanna check out MKII Watches. Bill Yao customizes these watches and the prices are excelent. He is a member here, btw.

If you're looking at the Seikos (can't go wrong, IMHO), check out http://chronograph.com - I've bought several watches from him. Every transaction has been perfect, and his prices are better than anyone's that I've found. Takes a week to get here (CA) from Singapore.

I have a Hamiton Khaki that I really like.

Sapphire crystal front and back, ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. Very nice watch. Price was $200. 38 mm diameter case.
