I need a wire pocket clip for a knife with screw on clip?

I have a benchmade Gaucho knife. I really like the knife, but not the pocket clip.

I really like Spyderco Wire pocket clips. Anyone have any idea how to convert a wire clip to work on this knife with a screw on clip? The clip on the gaucho has three screws that hold it on.

Thanks

Besides making your own, you could weld on a small metal plate to the two ends of the wire clip so that you will have a base to put holes in so it can be screwed to the benchmade.

I don't know much about welding, but it sounds like it would work :o

Good luck, J.

J, That is a good idea. Wish I knew something about welding. I'd give it a try, but I think welding something this small with require someone with skills!

My initial thought was to epoxy the ends of the wire into the screw holes. But I don't want to mess up the knife.

Silver solder would be strong enough, and a lot less risky than welding. Use the base plate from the existing clip, then solder the wire clip ends across the face of it. MAPP gas torches and solder are as close as your nearest hardware store. Your local jeweler might do it for you, too, if you're not interested in DIY. I bet his work would be cleaner than mine.

Most welders are used to working with heavier gauge metal, and would be likely to burn up such a small piece.
