I need advice ASAP

Hey, so I have an opportunity to make a trade. It will be my Startac and Benchmade 928 for a Will Moon MK 10. All knives in question are in brand new condition (never carried safe queens). Is this a good trade? I feel like my two knives are worth more than the MK 10 from a retail standpoint, but it's a really nice knife. If my two are worth more, it's not much more. Would you guys do it?
 
Whether or not any of us would do it is secondary to the ultimate question in this entire discussion....

I don't know! I think I would, I guess I'm just looking for someone to tell me "hell yea" or "you're retarded" lol. Like I said, from what I can see the values are comparable. I really like the Mk10, and it's a custom vs 2 production knives. I really can't decide. SOMEONE PUSH ME OFF ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER! Lol.
 
I wouldn't touch anything by will moon with a 10 foot poll. Dude is a scamming scumbag. Wouldn't matter if the trade was 4x in my favor. He's banned from here. Look him up in the gb&u.
 
Thank you for that information man. I don't know what the gb&u is, but I'll do a search. Last thing I want is for two great knives to get traded for one crappy one.
 
I go with my gut on all things that can be subjective. I also never second guess myself. If I was wrong it was because I did what I felt was right. So in the end, I can never be wrong.

Two options here.
1) They are "safe queens" only important to your pride. Nothing lost in any outcome.
2) See above.

Forget the value in dollars. Do what makes YOU happy.
 
Thanks for that Zombie. I'm generally the same way and just follow my gut. I shouldn't say they're safe queens, per se, but I don't beat the heck out of them. I have other knives for workers. Now that I've gotten some more info on this Moon fellow, I think I'll be passing up this offer. I appreciate all the information from you guys.

This is how I value knives, not by what I paid for them. If I like a knife and it's useful to me, it has value in my eyes. If I don't/won't use a knife, no matter what I paid for it it's of lesser value to me than a knife I will use.

I like what Zombie411 says about value, but craytab is right about Will Moon's reputation based on previous dealings on BF. I'd check out the maker very closely before trading if it were me. Since this is a custom, the original maker is who you'd need to go back to for any kind of W&R on the knife.

Good idea. Lots of reputable maker's knives to desire. Will moon and his many shill accounts were banned from here for good reason, 26 pages worth.

Often your gut doesn't deal in facts. Research the facts first and then listen to your gut.
 
Thats exactly the reason I finally jumped in with my gold membership. I've lurked here for longer then I care to admit. I decided that it was finally time to drop my measly 30 bucks and have access to a wealth of information (being you guys) rather than continuing to go it alone. It's already paid off in a big way. Losing a Startac to a possibly subpar knife made by a decidedly subpar maker would've been one expensive, hard, pill to swallow.
 
Another quick question. I've obviously messed up where I thought they wanted my name instead of my user name. Is there any way to change that? FYI that's not really my real name......im just asking for a friend......:cool:

I think there is a fee to change your user name. You need to start a thread in Tech Support to get it done.

After you pay, create a thread in Tech Support (select the Change Username prefix), and be sure to include the PayPal transaction ID. (Most people also put the old and new names there for reference, as well)
Be patient - it's done manually, and may take a week or two.

Do you know and or trust the person you are trading with? Does he have feedback on the forum?
