I need help concerning a one piece aviator. Want to make sure I'm getting a fair trad

Hi guys, what is the current market value for a crk aviator? I found one in pretty good condition, save for a few scuffs, and the guy wants to trade for my well used strider SMF plus $200. Is this a fair trade? Would you do it? Also, if I got the aviator, would I be able to trade it for any other one piece knife? How desirable are aviators compared to other one piece crks? Thanks for your help!

Honestly, there is so little action on the One Piece line, it is very hard to say.

Leave this up for a while and some of our more knowledgeable posters should be able to guess pretty close for you.

It depends on the condition of the knife, if it has box, BC and depends on the birth date.
As far as i know it is not in production so interesting piece for collectors.
Being a collector my self and want to have a OPK I have it for first

I would say your aviator is worth a lot more than that. I would guess 600-$800. But that's just a seat of the pants guess. I would hold on to it if I were you.

I had one that I sold more than a year ago for around $400.
That seems to be the starting line for most of the more easily found OPK's but others can sky rocket from there quickly.

In less than perfect condition you should pay a little less but if you really want it the choice is yours. I don't know enough about Striders to know what the price would be on a well used knife.

If the Aviator is a blade length other than 4 1/2 ? Which was the "regular" size it'd be worth a bit more to collectors.
When I posted mine I had plenty of inquiries to see if it was the 5 1/2 inch model- which I had no idea ever existed until I was asked, pretty rare I guess.

They're fun knives, tough, hold a good edge, have very nice sheaths, and get damn cold during hunting season ;D

I hope that whatever you pick you're happy with the decision.

No, haha, I have the strider. I'm trying to trade it for the aviator.

The prices of the OPKs are crazy now and well above what they are "worth". If you are looking to use the knife I would say buy elsewhere, if you want if for a collection then you want a mint example that you will pay what YOU are willing to pay for it depending on how much you want/need the knife. This knife sounds like it's already a user.....

As for a SMF for a OPK, like the Aviator, I would say a straight up trade would be fair if both people are happy. If one or other is expecting money on top of that trade that is up to them, I personally would not pay any extra on a trade between those two knives. It's also one of the smaller OPKs so expect that and consider the price or "worth" with regards to that. :)

Now he's considering the used SMF, an esee izula, plus 100. If he says yes to that, I'll probably go for it:)

I would say that's a great deal......for him. :p

Hm. I'm so bad at trading haha. I reversed my offer to the smf + 100, and then he backed out. Oh well it's probably for the best. I can give you his contact info if anyone else wants to try for it. Email me.

It's a shame to miss out on the knife but IMO that was too much, the SMF + 100 was still weighted in his favour, IMO. I personally will never encourage or pay the crazy prices the OPKs are going for thesedays. I say you were right to stick to your guns on this one. Best of luck finding one in the (near) future. :)
