Okay, in a nutshell here's what I know about multitools. I've got a junker, some off brand that I've never heard of. I've got a LM Micra on my keychain, and my brother has my Gerber Multitool. I got a Sog Switchplier for Christmas and it lives in my go-bag.

Here's the deal. I'm going to be deployed to Florida to work rescue ops after the hurricane. I figured I'd need a multitool, and in the general discussion forum my guess was pretty much affirmed. So I need help. I'm going to have about 100 bucks to spend on a multitool. What do I buy?? Here's the only trick that it has to be able to do. I can't buy it until Wednesday night or Thursday at the earliest, and it has to be here (Central Ohio) by Friday.

Okay, Go!! Help me!!

You can get a Leatherman Wave or Super Tool 200 at walmart or target for way under $100.

BTW, here’s a review I posted on the Super Tool 200, SwissTool and the SOG PowerLock -

So your the guy who posted that Kick Ass review !!! :D

Tis an honour to meet you !! :)

Any chance you will be doing a similar thing on the LM Charge and Vic SwissTool Spirit ???

I'd jump on a Swiss Tool RS. I think you can find it for $55-70 lots of places on the web. Here is Amazon.com at $59 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...85-2738431?v=glance&s=sporting-goods&n=507846

This is the sturdiest (IMO) multitool around. This is also the tool that will take the max abuse of any tool out there. I have this and a Wave and while the Wave is great for one handed opening, it is not as utilitarian as the Swisstool. The wave will twist when you really honk on the screwdrivers (plus they will close up - on the old version, this was fixed on the new one).

My second choice would be the Charge TI - I think this might be the next best thing or maybe be better than the Swiss Tool for ruggedness and it has one handed opening. (But its lots more expensive).

If time is of the essense, ordering online is problematic, since you would really have to get it overnighted.

My suggestion is to go to Target and get a LM Supertool for about 50 bucks, cheap and strong and just about every Target store will have one. I've seen SOG powerlocks at wally world, which is a decent choice too.

If you live near a Cabela's or a Bass Pro shops, you could try to get a LM charge XTi. I don't know any stores that routinely carry the swiss tool.

Good luck.

I live near a Galyans, I wonder what they have. I'll have to call them later. At the least I know they have Leatherman. .

I'll cast my vote for the Victorinox Swiss Tool, whichever model you feel has the right tools. I have the original version with the sheath and bit wrench and bits. I'm not sure if I'd want to lose the file/metal saw. That comes in handy for me fairly often. You could always buy a SAK in adition to give you scissors and a few other things.
