I 've played the Spyderco , but don't like feel . I can't afford an Emerson right now . I've owned the CS version , but thought it was too big to carry. So here's my criteria for a future Karambit :

1 . I 'm not paying over a $100.00 at this point . $500.00 = Glock , used Sig , etc... not another knife .

2. It can be either fixed or folder , but must not be huge if it's fixed. If it's a folder , I want the blade point up when clipped to the pocket.

3. While I would prefer single edged , double edged works too , no serrations though.

4. It must be made of decent steel (preferably some form of stainless steel) , and if it folds , it needs a good lock up. I've owned / played with the S&W Karambit , and wasn't impressed with the knife , because the screws kept walking out .

I know that going custom (spending more) would open up doors , but I simply can't justify spending lot's of money on this one knife , when already have plenty of other factory knives that well made , and less expensive.

Thanks guys .

Get the Derespina from New Graham.

It's not on the main search page, I don't think - but they do sell it,
and it's a great karambit. I'll try to find the link for you.

Check out www.toratoratora.co.uk they have just started buying in Filipino blades direct from the Philippines and Karambit is on their list. At the moment they only have training karambit (i.e dull edge) but they are going to be supplying live blade karambit as well. I train and teach the karambit in the UK, it is a great little blade, very versitile and deadly in application.

I once made a custom trainer for someone off of the Derespina Model 10. It's a sweet karambit....
Admittedly, I don't have much time logged in with them. But I liked it none the less.

Just had a look at the link for that Karambit, very sweet!!

I've just tried to look at the Tora site Stickmaster, but you have to register first, bummer!!

Then I would advise you register. Its a good site with plenty of weapons (very nice) and the forums not bad either.

I'll put a hand forward for the derespina model 10.

I love my emerson, its like pulling a fixed blade out of your pocket.

find a double edged fixed blade model not much larger than the model 10 then look at a custom sheath for your carry options, I reckon put a double edge on an emerson and you'll give me an orgasm.

happy hunting

Derespina Mod 10.

A compact and comfortable fist-full of well designed curved steel. And, a nice guy, on this forum no less, named RDT makes them.

if you're only problem with the S&W was the screws.. invest in some Loctite, and buy 5 knives for $100

Wife just got me a CS steel Tiger. They are around 50 bucks.
It's definatly bigger and heavier than the kerambits that I currently own and is scary sharp to boot.

(and she gets really angry for some reason when I can guess what she got me as a suprise)

Derespina Model 10 Karambit. No doubt about it. You cannot beat this knife for the price... at least not how it appears in the pic.

Since they appear to be out of stock, have you considered the TDI by Ka-Bar? It's not a karambit & no finger hole... but the blade geometry is similar. They are a solidly built piece of kit.

Look at it this way. You have a wife that is buying you a knife. That is a very good thing and I only know of two other ladies that do that for their significant others. I'd say count your blessings....

Respectfully, I have both of these knives.

The TDI is OK. That's it... just OK.
The TDI is NO comparison to the Derespina Mod 10.

Sidenote: if I had the money right now, I would be ordering one of Thrust Mag's Skinny Puppies. That knife just grabs me for some reason.

I hear that, but I think mainly it's due to me putting up with her dragging me to yarn and knitting shops for hours on end. (Then I would turn around and drag her to magic shops....)

But yes getting your wife to get you knives as gifts just rocks :D

What about one of the Mantis kerambits?

Or if you can find the origional Hibben Claw. I have one, but the curve is a little too much for my tastes and I'm considering regrinding the blade as well. But it's pretty neat for a short little karambit.

The Mod 10 from Derespina is available through him as his website. In fact, I'm waiting on a customized Mod 10. As soon as I get it I will be reviewing it in the Prac-Tac section.

Sorry to ignore all of your set criteria but once you handle the truly awesome Busse War Boar, nothing else will do!:D

mantis knives I guess.

Chances are they are made in Taiwan or China, some people call them "mall ninja" for a knife company, but I'm not going to knock them until I try them at least.

I just wish that some of the places around here would carry them.
