I acquired this khukuri set from an estate, and need help identifying it and it's dollar value please.

I have been seaching google for days now with no luck. All i keep finding is modern production knives like this.
This set i have seems to have real coins glued to the sheath, and the two companion knives are very primitive.
I emailed some place called khukuri house, but their email response was anything but legible. Apparently they dont speak very good english....

It's Chainpure made for tourist.

A bold way to test it is to use your hard use blade and slice the blade itself. I don't think it's properly heat-treated.
Just 0.02cents

Yep, looks like a tourist set. Probably not worth much. And you might want to read the site rules before you post again... One of the mods will doubtless be in to ding you for this particular violation.

Wow i'm not allowed to ask for details about a knife on a site called bladeforums? I ran into this same rule on a fishing website trying to find out information about a fishing lure i had. i never visited that website again after being scolded like a 12 year old.....

Hey Douglas...

ease up, buddy. You got some answers from nice folks. AND, you got some instruction on the operating behaviors for the forum you visited. These responses are a courtesy, not a service provided by a web-site.

Courtesy, tolerance and respect are pretty much the watch-words here.

Have fun. Enjoy your blade.

:)

Welcome to the HI forum, Douglas. It's one of the friendlier forums, and non-paying members like you and me can get a lot from it, but we have to avoid straying into areas reserved for paying members (like selling a knife), and I guess that some people in the past have abused their free membership by trying to get some offers on their knife by asking what it's worth.

There's lots to learn here about khukuris, and I suggest checking out the safety sticky and browsing the link library sticky.

Calm it down a bit my friend. I'm the one who told you to come over here. These guys are nice as can be, but you did violate a forum rule. We aren't allowed to ask about pricing/value. You can ask pretty much anything else. Get someone to tell you WHAT you have, then bust out your googlefoo and find out what it's worth on that big auction site.

Good seeing you here. This whole knife collection dropped in my lap has me a little stressed. I apologize

No sweat Douglas:) We generally don't ding folks for honest mistakes. The khuk section of BFC is a little tricky due to the fact that Himalayan Imports has basically a forum that acts as a showroom/discussion board for HI products alone, and a Cantina where we bring our off-topic stuff and general khuk related hullabaloo.

Honest mistake, no blood no foul:)

As the others have mentioned, this is most likely a tourist piece. A good rule of thumb regarding khuks is that the more garish, the more likely it is a piece of costume jewelry. I think it's a fine looking khuk, but I bet it is butter-soft and only worth a few bucks.

Yes i finally was able to find a picture of some that look like this one. Tourist model so it's probably worth around 20 bucks at the most.
Nice collectors piece, but not useful in the field.

Thanks for your help ya'll. I have a LOT more knives to photograph and post soon. :)
