Photos I need help identifying this knife maker symbol.

I got this knife as a white elephant gift this year. I am trying to identify the maker but can’t find any examples of the symbol. The same symbol is on the blade, along with Regent Japan.

different yes, but also similar enough that I figure it's probably why this seems vaguely familiar to him.

I was thinking puma, but they use just the cat head on a circular shied. Thats a tough one.

It's hard to identify a knife from a shield. Is there a tang stamp of any kind?

A quick google search turned up a couple of examples. They don’t seem to be in business anymore. Looks like a nice knife .
