So a few years ago I started collecting antique axes. I have quite a few of them but always heard about the black ravens being the holy grail. Idk why they are but I had a friend who was a literal hoarder with barns of antiques. He passed away at 87 years old a couple years ago. I was told I could have any item I thought I liked. So I was inside the house and opened a closet and saw this beautiful black raven in great shape sitting in the corner. This is the true temper variety. The embossing is in fantastic shape no dings or chips in the head really at all and has a smooth surface with Patina. It mainly needs a sharpening. I really like the cube but handle that’s in it rn. It seems like it’s been in there a long time haha. I just wanted more info on these black ravens maybe a short history and it would be great if I could get an approximate value just for my own knowledge. I will include pictures.
