I am the proud owner of a black Supertool 300, and I love it! I need one for work that is lighter. My requirements are: pliers, Phillips and a straight slot screwdriver. I don't need a corkscrew. I'm going for one that is lighter than my 300. It doesn't have to be a Leatherman. I saw the Wingman and both screwdrivers are too plainish. I'd love to have changeable bits but fear a big, heavy tool. I hope you understand what I'm looking for.
Can anyone help?

Leatherman Rebar if you like the 300 but want it lighter, it is like a mini 300.

I'd like belt carry. Pliers, knife, wire cutters, decent Phillips and straight slot.
Is the Rebar that much lighter?
Once again, I love my 300 but with dress pants in an office environment, something a tad smaller/lighter.

I clip a Leatherman CS (plier version) to a Victorinox Tinker. Pliers, scissors, file, can opener/small screwdriver, bottle opener/medium screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, awl punch. Having two lets me use multiple tools (like if I need to hold a bolt with the CS pliers with one hand while using the SAKs screwdriver with the other) but makes a small, light package.

I would recommend the Rebar as well. You get the good cutters from the 300, plus the same locks, tools and feel. Its pretty much the same, just smaller. Plus for the price, you won't be breaking the bank if you decide to go back to the bigger tool, or split the difference with something like the Wave. I'm very happy with mine, the only thing I would have liked is the old scissors instead of the serrated blade, but its not that big a deal. mine gets used pretty much every day, several times a day.

You might also check out a Victorinox Swisstool Spirit, in general they have a higher level F&F, with the polished finish I think they would fit into an office environment more. Other than that +1 on the Rebar or Juice.

Super tool 300-9.6 oz. Rebar-6.7 oz.
What about a skeletool? It has everything that you requested, plus it's almost half of the weight of your original tool (5 oz). It instance meant to be belt-carried but you could grab a sheath for it and your total cost would still be less than a bigger tool. If you got the replaceable bit set as well you could basically do everything you need.

You mentioned dress pants...the Skeletool has a clip. I realize that you said belt carry but seriously I think your life will be changed drastically if you switch to pocket carry :o

Super tool 300-9.6 oz. Rebar-6.7 oz.

My Super Tool 300 weighs 10.1 oz. according to a very accurate digital scale that also records the Rebar at 6.7 oz. Seems like a picked nit, but when it comes to EDC gear, ounces really count. I wouldn't have believed that after years of packing a 9 oz. original ST that an additional ounce would be noticeable, let alone burdensome, but while I got along great with the earlier model, this one at times seems like a burden. Of course, I'm 10 years older so maybe that makes a difference, but still.

Thank you everybody. I'm 58 1/2 y/o. The ST 300 is sweet but she seems big and bulky. I wear her every time I head outdoors. I will be ordering 2 sets of replacement blades for he as I don't figure they'll be around forever. Having said that, I guess I want something somewhat smaller in profile and weight. I'd love to have changeable bits but that's not a deal killer. The Rebar looks sweet. Maybe the weight difference is all in my mind?

Have you considered a Juice S2 or like others have mentioned, the Rebar?

You can get an adapter that works on both the Juice, Rebar and ST300 so you can have changeable bits.

I have one of the predecessors to the Rebar, the Blast.

Prior to that, I had a Wave.

I've found the weight difference to be very, very noticeable and carry mine in my day pack. For occasional back pocket or sheath carry, I still notice the weight.

With the Rebar and Blast, you loose the external blades, but I don't rely on OHO or fast knife blade deployment.

Of the current models and for what you describe, I would consider the Rebar and a leather holster. I would also take a close look at the even smaller Juice with a killer leather holster. If you feel under equipped, maybe move your big tool to your briefcase.
