I am getting ready to buy my first RAT knife. I am down between the Izula and the RC-3. I will be using it for a EDC. I can not decide on witch one to buy first. Any suggestions? I will end up with both of them but for now I can only buy one.
 
As a general purpose EDC, I would suggest the Izula UNLESS you have regular use for a somewhat larger blade.
 
Lol its funny...I just posted a similar thread though mine was a choice between the Izula and the HEST. Looks like the general consensus is the Izula for general choice for 1st time around unless you have a specific need.
 
I agree with T-K-C, I have been carrying an Rc-3 for a bit here and I enjoy the options of this blade a great deal. My only sec-thought is in regard to over all size, i find that it gets many sec-looks and frowns. Attention of that kind is the last thing I want!
 
the rc3 for comfort , the izula or hest for being tiny.... personaly i like the rc3 for walking around but its orange and kinda calls attention to its self. so far the hest and izula have been pretty hide able.
 
I would also go with the Izula first as an EDC.Too many sheeple around and an Izula pretty much disappears into pants pockets.
 
I think the Izula is a great first RAT, that was my first, but it sure wasnt the last. I will be getting them all.....Im afraid I have RAT disease, there is no cure...just treatment.

Buy 2 RATs and call me in the morning.:D
 
I have about decide one the Izula for my first RAT knife. Now I need to find who has the cheapest prices for the whole kit.

I know this isn't much help but both are great knives and I have found that both ride in the front pants pocket well. In loose fitting BDU type pants that is. You probably couldn't carry the RC3 in the front pocket of a pair of jeans though. You really can't go wrong with either one. Whichever one you get, within a couple of weeks you wind up wanting the other one also. It's the way of the RAT.
 
If you really want to edc it every day, have it stand up to about anything and be able to conceal it easily...Izula! I have gotten rid of most of my folders thanks to the Izula. Great knife.
 
It sounds like we're all banging the same drum here. For every day carry, I drop an Izula in my pocket and it disappears until I need it.

It's not too big to be unwieldy in the pocket, not too small to use for various cutting chores, and looks benign enough to keep folks from freaking out when used in public.

For my user in the woods though I reach for the RC-3 first. That extra handle thickness and blade length go a long way toward improved long-term comfort.

Same here, I ordered an OD Izula for EDC. I think you can't go wrong with this little fella as your first Rat Cutlery knife. The only problem is that you'll definetly want more! :D

Good choice. Although I love my RC-3, my Izula just makes a better EDC. Check out Howes Knife Shop for good prices.
 
I have an Izula and an RC-3 (MIL). While they are both fantastic knives I will say that my Izula gets a lot more EDC use. I carry the Izula in the back pocket of my jeans every day while the RC-3 stays in my EDC pack. The biggest reason I like the Izula is it's small size.
