Ladies and gentlemen,

I would really appreciate your feedback please. Once every few years I like to treat myself to a nice knife for my collection. I like to buy knieves in the $400 to $900 range, I aim to buy something unique and well made.

I have a Spyderco and a classic early 70's Swiss Army knife to do the heavy lifting. This knife will see very limited use, if any. My issue is that in the past, I only paid attention to and purchased knieves forged by Shosui Takeda. I have absolutelly zero knowledge about other blacksmiths, other than Rockstead, which are very beautiful knieves but completelly out of my price range. I would honestly buy another Takeda, but there are only two in stock at the shops I frequent and they are in the area of something I already have, so I decided to buy something new.

After searching the forums and the interwebs for something that fits my price range, I narrowed my search down to Zero Tolerance (ZT), Winkler and Half Face Blades (HFB).

I will probably buy all three, but since there is only so much money in the piggybank, given a choice, I would choose HFB first. Andrew Arrabito is an artist, his work is amazing. Unfortunatelly, he is all sold out. This goes on my 2021 bucket list. That leaves me with ZT and Winkler. I narrowed it down to the following models:

Zero Tolerance ZT223 CPM-20CV Galyean Folder - Brown G10

Winkler WK Survival Striker

The Winkler is more unique, I suspect ZT is far more common, but I do love that knife. But then I love the fact you can store stuff in the handle of the Winkler. The ZT is $100 less though, but the Winkler doesn't have black coating on the blade and back and forth........

What would you take if you had a choice of one, say as a gift? I'd love to hear your opinions. Is there perhaps another blacksmith I should take a look at?

I would buy I Winkler, John Doyle or TK Steingass.... but that's just me.
Half Face Blades are good, but when it comes to a hand made knife (which is where you posted your question), I would do a little more research. Most of the HFB are water jetted.
I guess maybe describe what you are looking for in a knife (I am thinking fighter or tactical because of your choices).

Either way the guys here will definitely point you in the right direction.

Thank you for your feedback. I pretty much have the basic categories of knieves and hatchets covered, so it's eye candy for the most part now. Something I can appreciate as a work of art. I will check out your suggestions for sure.
