Here's my problem. I have too many knives that I have a hard time deciding on any given day which knife to carry. Should I carry my Hinderer XM-8 or maybe my ZT 0450 or perhaps the Brous Mini Division or how about the ZT 0808 or 1 of the 2 Southards or the PM2 or the Sage 2 or Sage 3 or my small Sebenza or the ZT 0770CF or the Benchmade 940-1 or just maybe the Spyderco Domino or Spyderco Chaparral. And there's more. I love them all. And I'm still buying more. Compounding the problem. Can you say knife junkie!

Pick a length of blade you like to carry and start there I personally found that I like a longer blade so anything under 3.75 inches had to go. Then I started on weight and so on. I decided on the ZT0452cf but I will keep my ZT0550 for the times I need a beefier knife.

I have a lot of knives to EDC and so that means I can't EDC any of them. I carry each one for a few days and then go to the next one.

I don't do the "I pick whichever one I like" thing because I like them all, almost equally. And that is one reason that I have a lot of different knives to carry.

You could try this and it will help you-
Lay out all of the knives next to each other and pick the first one to carry for a few days, then the next one, and so forth. If you come to one knife and you don't really want to carry it, then take it out of the rotation. Then whatever knives remain you can put them in a row and pick the first one to carry. Then after a day or two days or whatever you pick the next one and carry it. You never have to worry about which one to select, just pick the next one in order. It works great for me anyway.

Pick out your top 5, send them to me for evaluation, then I'll send back the one you should EDC.

We need a picture to be of any assistance. ;)

There are many factors to help you decide.
Blade length
Weight
Price
Material
Replaceability.
You will probably find, that for different occasions you need different knives - that's fine!
Chances are you will use more than one. If you decide you use less than all - you made it to collector.
Using your knives will give you experience, which in turn will change your buying habits.
hope this helps

PS: small Sebenza

If you like them all and think they all can accomplish your daily tasks equally just pick one at random each day. This is what I do or if I know I am going to need a specific knife for a specific task I choose accordingly. Often certain knives won't leave the pocket as easily but this is how you can find your favorites.

It really depends on your daily tasks. What are you cutting day-to-day?

I'd say if you can find a knife that works the best for you, you can upgrade from there. For example if you find your XM18 works really well for your daily tasks, you can upgrade to a custom hand-ground XM18. If you find that your Small Sebenza works really well, you could upgrade to inlays or CGG. Etc.

I rotate some of mine on a weekly basis, some I just play with until it's time to go in the pocket and some are just for looking at never gonna be used.

Yep, I agree with the other replies. Unless I have a specific task or need a "dress knife", I usually just grab whatever knife strikes my fancy that day. I usually carry anything new for a few weeks to a month to get a feel of what its cutting profile and edge retention are like.

Welcome to the all consuming addiction of we who buy sticky-poky-bits! :D

Get one of these and easily carry 6 of your favorites at all times in a bag or in your car, etc:
