My friend has an older Kershaw, black handle, black bladed tanto/serrated knife. I had the good fortune of sharpening it for him. Shortly thereafter he shipped out to Afganistan. I don't think he had much warning. I'm just glad to have put an edge on it before he shipped out.

It got me thinking. Does anybody make a satin, tanto, serrated blade/knife in 154 cm? I'm not exactly sure what steel his was but I'd guess maybe 440C, Aus 8 or something like that. I'd really like to keep the price down as low as I can so customs are out. I looked in Kershaw and got dizzy trying to navigate my way through. I may surprize him with one. Can anybody help me out?

are you dead set on 154CM?

how about the kershaw RJI?

I believe that Benchmade may do the grips and presidio in a tanto combo edge.

That is what came to mind for me as well. And if you are not set on 154CM, CS had VG-1 voyagers, and SOG has some in VG10. All are similar to 154CM

Many thanks to everyone who responded. I mean it. I would love to have a Blur/tanto/serrated/in 154 cm. I don't think they make such a critter. His is a Blur. I'd love to keep the price between $50 and $100, maybe $125.? As far as the steel goes, I guess I should have said 154 cm or better. The Griptilians are nice, just not tactical enough for him. What do you think now?

in the $50-$100 range, take a look at the cold steel recon 1 tanto:

question: you seem very dead set on tanto/serrated/154CM+, how come? also, have you considered getting him a fixed blade?

Does he need serrations? If not that important, there's the ZT0400. Discontinued, but there are still some around in stock i think.
