I've already looked at the Victorinox Solo (Alox) and the Emerson CQC-14. I would appreciate help in choosing a folder. I'm looking looking for something with a 3" (or less) blade. I'm not basing what I get on price alone. I want something with the highest quality. I'm only considering production knives. What can you recommend? Post pictures and links if possible, please! Thanks!

The cqc-14 is nice because it does have a full size handle and it has the wave too. Another cheaper option might be a Cold Steel mini lawman or mini ak-47.

2.94" S30V blade, and the highest quality production model? That would be a Small Sebenza, my friend!

Emerson mini A-100 is very nice if you like Emersons. Small Seba is o'k too. Strides PT is a tank of small knives. William Henry if you're in jentlemen folders. Spyderco Sage is also perfect for 3" knife, slim, light, with s30v blade and immaculate quality.

I just received a Lion Steel SR-1-B from BHQ. 3.7" blade, solid Ti handles (no screws), and built like a tank. I have several large Sebenzas, Emersons Commanders, and Spyderco Milis. The SR-1 is very well made. Very high quality. The blade presentation is a little tight right now (The CR was silky smooth right out of the box), but it's getting easier with handling. The handle is a little on the slick side...a lanyard fixed that. Now when the knife slips a little the small knot on the lanyard is enough to stop any further slipping.

Overall IMO the SR-1 is the nicest production folder I have now. For me it's a good mix of cool technology and superb build quality.

Good luck, it's nice to have choices ain't it, Ji

A bit more info regarding your criteria would be helpful.
Do you have a particular use in mind.
Blade style? Recurve, Wharncliffe, Clipped, Spear point, Tanto, Spanto,...?
Serrated or Plain or Combo?
Blade material?
Blade finish? Polished, Beadblasted, coated?...
Single or multi-blade?
Locking or not? Type lock?
Handle material?
Color?
clip or not?
Just under 3" or is small, keyring size ok?
Brand preference?
Price limit?
User or Collectible?

Wow. There are so many options. Pick one from Kershaw, Benchmade or Spyderco. They all make just what your looking for. Only you know which one is right for you.

Some more info on your taste in knives would help.

But if you do like smaller Emersons its hard not to look long and hard at a Mini CQC-7. Its on my shortlist for sure after my experiences with my A100.

That said a Delica is a great value in any flavor they offer.

Of course so is my BM 527, and my buck ranger, my old kershaws....See the predicament? We need some more info on what you're looking for or we'll just recommend what each of us likes, its like having people tell you what your favorite flavor of ice cream should be. (moose tracks all the way ;) )
