I need some help choosing a knife for work... I work narcotics and I want a knife for my thigh rig. Im thinking about 4-6". For some reason im drawn to the Tom Brown Tracker. I think because of the ruggedness of it. My other dilemma is money. I know there are alot of knives out there that some of you fancy but when I go to there sites although they are beautiful I just cant spend 400> on a knife that there is a possibility that I might loose. Maybe something under 200 if possible maybe 250.

Thank you guys in advance.

Leu Custom made me a small FB for $150. It's an all business working knife called a kozuka. He will work with you. Tell him what you want the knife for. This knife is my only FB EDC.

manimal, you don't need the high-end knives for this. SOG or Buck or Buck/Strider will get the job done. I gave my brother-in-law a SOG SEAL 2000 just in case he needed a big fixed blade. You might also consider a Cold Steel SRK.

Fallkniven are top of the line for tough, sharp knives. The F1 might be smaller than you want. Check out the S1.

Some of the more expensive or popular knives are massive, also. Watch out for those. You're paying for thick steel that won't cut as well and weighs you down.

SOG---Good. Strider, TANK! there are lots to choose from. Think-application.

One other possibility is Bark River Knife & Tool (in Michigan! :) ). They have a bewildering variety of knives, but two recent offerings were modified for the military from similar previous knives of theirs. Either of these would fit in your budget, too.
