I was restricted ot ordering one knife

which one would you pick case cv soddie or case cv slimline trapper

Can't really go wrong with either. I've always appreciated the CV sodbuster jr., but I prefer the slimline trapper for the fine tip.

You can get the sodbuster at Home Depot. Order the trapper online, buy the sodbuster at Home Depot.

I can't get sodbusters from home depot, but i can go down to lowes and get a case sodbuster and a sodbuster jr. and i just got a case slimeline trapper +1 for that from me.

The soddie is more robust than a slimline trapper.
So it depends what you want to do with the knife.

I'd go for the slimline trapper in CV myself - great general purpose pattern, nice in the hand and in the pocket - and a really great looking pattern also. I never really took to the look and feel of the sodbuster pattern in general (and you don't get the very useful fine point like the slimline trapper blade has either).

I don't have any of these patterns, but am more inclined to try the Soddie. If you're like me you will eventually get 'em both:eek:

Plus one.

The Sodbuster is a good hard work knife. With it's fat handle, you can use it all day long and not mind. Much more comfortable than the trapper. IIRC, the Sodbuster blade is thicker than that of a trapper, as well. But the trapper has a much finer point, which makes it better for some jobs.

I have owned and used both and prefer the slim-line trapper but the sodbuster is also a good one.

Both. However, as someone said, the Soddie's available at Home Depot, so if I had to only order one from an internet dealer (I'm assuming that's the case), then I'd get the slimline Trapper (A pattern I've never had, BTW).

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Never tried a slimline trapper but I'm inclined to buy one myself. The soddie is a rock solid knife though.
